The Official Parenting Thread

Made my “old 11u/young 12u” (August birthday… 6th grade) start swinging a drop 8 this fall hoping to get 2 years out of it.

Found a Marucci store by us selling discontinued models at a discount and went for alloy for durability.

He is a great fielder, very good fielder… so the team can accept a below average bat…
 
My 17 YOA has mastered the art of diffusing any instruction without paying attention. When I start telling him something, he politely responds "alright, yeah" or "true" or "that makes sense". But I can tell he is not really paying any attention and just wants to finish the conversations.

It is infuriating...but I can see he will go far in life.

Mine loves it when I parrot that shit back to them.
 
Went to a college presentation yesterday with my youngest and his friend. At one point there was a student panel of five kids offering different experiences. The moderator asked them to recount their favorite memory. One talked about intramural championship, one talked about study abroad, one talked about getting an internship and another talked about a football win over Iowa.

Then there was Nate. “My favorite memory is easy…and it happens at least once a week. Panda is fire here. Don’t sleep on Panda. There is this old lady named Yuk that works there. I go and ask for a bowl and my girl Yuk gives me so much meat. Go check her out. Tell her Nate sent you. Yuk will hook you up.”

The crowd was dying. My kids perked way up and totally related to this story. They did check her out and she did hook them up. Buldak fire chicken was piled high and delicious. They may choose Ames because of Nate and Yuk.

The wrangling of prom details is turning into a nightmare. Drama all around and I don’t even have a daughter. Who is going with who, where is everyone taking pictures, who is coming on the party bus, never mind how is everyone paying for all this. Here is part of the prom contract.
