The 3D Printing Thread

All of this stuff will eventually trickle down to Bambu Studio and all the other variants.

Especially interested in multi-material interlocking for incompatible plastics (which they mention here as a multi-tool feature but this could easily be accomplished with an AMS with some material loss):

Seriously good PLA Plus deal here, especially for colors (white/black/gray are always cheap). Buy 6 get 4 free then use 20% off code "STARTFRESH".

Best deal you'll find on color filament outside of AliExpress right now.

My wife: “if that’s black tar heroin we’re splitting it”

Prusa just acquired this company that specializes in nonplanar printing. Very cool stuff that could end up in the major machines in the next few years.

Could solve stair stepping on the top shells of models for instance

Just heat gunned the fuck out of this getting it shinier and roughing the surface a bit on the top shell to paint this later.

My wife has been catching up on some old Netflix show.

Random image of the new Bambu flagship (and what looks like a new AMS too). Also clearly says 350x320x325 which is bigger than I thought they’d go.

Yeah that has 2 tool heads. That thing is gonna be $2k without an AMS probably. Maybe more? Whew.

Going to be awhile before I would consider upgrading. Two heads will make printing with support material so much faster.

Apparently there’s something that looks like it reads “laser” on the top of the printer so people think it might do engraving on top of models and the AMS says “HT” for “high temp” as in built in dryer.

The prices I’m hearing are … more than $2k. Heh.

Oh totally don’t think it’s worth an upgrade unless you are absolutely cranking AMS prints. This is for high volume farms IMHO.

Kid I worked with has had a little side business printing parts for home weaving or knitting machines for a while. He talked about it like it was some beer money stuff. Just found out he has a bunch of machines and hes sold like 60k of these things for $30 a pop. Guessing they have about $2 worth of material in them.

Man this thing is gonna be expensive as fuck. "Personal Manufacturing".

A single complete set of 8 liters of “filament” for this (it’s a liquid that’s CYMK, clear, black, and support structure) is $1.5k. Heh. These are literally the dudes making the maquettes for Disney animators these days.

Some of their filament tech like the clear ball encasing a model that refuses to break are completely nuts. They must have annealed the ever loving shit out of that.

I have too many filament spools now and too much white PETG so I’m making more shelves to solve both issues at once.

One more thought for tonight… if anyone is looking for a cheap printer that Creality Hi looks really good. Don’t ever spend $1500 on Creality but $300-500 (with CFS color changer) seems pretty alright. Especially because it’s murdering the Ender 3 series … the printer that both found and lost me on 3D printing years ago. Hahah.

I believe Aurora. You too will one day appreciate her complete lack of emotion and catchy free YouTube music while printing like I do. 260x260x300 is a pretty nice build size more that amount of money. 4 cm over the A1 is pretty fucking tall honestly.

They're using the A1's quick release nozzle system (like that literally is the same hotend assembly I've had to replace it before). I mean I have no issues with the A1's flow rate or print quality or anything [it's actually kinda good] but it's interesting that their new flagship is going to use the tech that comes from their tiniest/cheapest consumer model (the A1 Mini).
