The 3D Printing Thread

I did a similar print for my cousin's wife in PLA Marble white that turned out great. PETG HF?

The Darkmoon plate is in, I'll get it deployed this weekend.
Biggest pro tip I can give is if you get something stuck on there heat up the board to 80C and it makes it a lot easier to take off. I have issues with small PETG supports especially.

Just get a rag, wet it slightly in the sink, and wipe with a little pressure between prints. That’s it. You can go more than 1 print but you’ll lose adhesion if you go between PETG and PLA because of the residual non-sticking plastic. I have never used soap on mine.

Dont be afraid to ask questions either. Twice I’ve logged into their discord and Ben (the owner) has been there to answer my question. Very nice dude.

Sunlu Basic gray PETG (rocks)
Elegy Space Gray PETG-HF (castle)
Flashforge Burnt Titanium PETG-HF (roof)
… and a secret 4th filament of Sunlu Blue PLA as support interface between PETG layers.

0.2 layer height (imho you gain nothing past this with PETG)
0.4 hotend
47 hours print time

Bambu’s Marble PLA can touch grass.

I’ve printed 8 billion things in Elegoo, Sunlu, Kingroon, Flashforge, Anycubic, Polymaker, American Filament, Slant3D…. This is the worst one. 2 fails because it won’t even slick to an additive board. Checked my standard PEI board same thing. Slowed down halfway… same thing.

Guys I even pulled out my glue stick.

Nope. Fuck right off.

Oops All Elastomers

I haven't had a problem with it, but I have only used one spool. What hot end are you using?
0.4mm nothing crazy.

I switched out the hot end too. I dunno what’s up with it maybe it needs to be dried or something … I just changed filaments to another PLA and kept going.

I don’t usually come across plastics that won’t comply. This was just sliding off the board even after a scrub. On both boards (hot and cold… 70C and 45C… glue stick on the regular PEI)… so it’s something with the spool.

I’ve only bought 2 rolls from Bambu ever and they’re both problem childs. Gimme Polymaker or Elegoo any damn day of the week.

I’ll save them for multicolor where they don’t need to adhere to the plate.

Bambu is 97% of what I have now. I'll be mixing in more Polymaker in the future, especially with some of their new materials.

We used a mix of Polymaker (mostly) with some Bambu at work and have had problems with both between a X1E and Prusa MK3.

I open my wallet for Polymaker. Whew boy they can be expensive but they always look and print awesome.

Also now that I figured out they use Amazon for fulfillment if I see a sale and that their filament is in my local warehouse it comes in 1 day.

(Temp tower fell due to me using PETG for support interfaces… it should actually be fine under there))

I need to fix the guitar but this came out well. This is from a 3D scan of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue in downtown Austin. Planning on making a color-accurate larger version later.

Picked up their G10 Garolite board (in white) today because my next big project needs "glass" and I need a smooth plate to achieve that printing on the face (in PETG).

Hahah. They bullied the company that owned Benchy into releasing the model into the public domain.

Damn. My favorite thing to tell people there for a second was that there was a Benchy that was a Boat that was replaced by Boaty who is a Bench.

3D printing is sorta dumb.

I finally got around to assembling the 0.6mm and 0.8mm hotends yesterday. I also bought a complete 0.2mm hotend.

I realized I have an extra 0.4mm hotend but it's the stainless one so I ordered a hardened one.

Time for a swap but I'm not sure which direction to go, thinking 0.2mm. Hmm...

Nope, going for 0.6mm for print that has 11 plates.

11 plates always will always equal a 0.6mm nozzle.

Facts.

Printing a mermaid currently for my employee that just wants a mermaid. The fuck we doing here besides that lol.
