Cross post from DDT, talking what gin for Negroni's. Time to branch out.

It's like $27 for a 1.75L bottle.

I know that Michigan is weird, but with the liquor control here, you can buy Kirkland liquor products at any liquor store that desires to carry it.

You inspired me to think about Kirkland brand. Unfortunately NJ is limited to 2 Costco's that offer booze. I'm not close to either.

Even if you aren't a huge fan, it's cheap as hell for a large quantity.

It's probably even cheaper there, as we have state minimum pricing on liquor. Chicago is often cheaper than rural SW Michigan.

Been a minute since I restocked gin. I am sure it is a perfectly cromulent gin like the rest of their house booze program.

I'm using the roku gin right now and it's quite excellent in a negroni.

1 part sweet vermouth

This is pretty tasty. I added a dash of chocolate bitters to mine too. Not sure if that was the way to go, but it didn't make it worse!

I like it in a G&T, haven't tried it in a negroni.

So the original post was literally some ratty half opened bottles someone local put to the curb. But that one clearly shows that the old producer used to put wormwood directly in the bottle. Looked interesting but I am sure every last one of those 50 year old bottles was oxidized as fuck.

I'd only ever seen the wormwood plant, never the seed stalks. Had no idea what that was.

I went through a negroni phase a few years ago, and now if there’s a white negroni I will always choose that instead. I think I’ve decided that Campari just isn’t for me.
