Let's All Go to the Movies

Look, The Bride! is terrible but in a misguided and clumsy way. It's not so bad that it somehow sets literary film adaptations back some decades and stains the source material as the Emerald Fennell/Margot Robbie Wuthering Heights did.

I’m surprised that Mr. Movies LurchingBeast hasn’t mentioned it but with Project Hail Mary completing an EIGHT WEEK theatrical window and Netflix moving Narnia to Feb 2027 and committing to a 48 day theatrical window… the loss of Warners might be slightly offset by the gain of 2 majors.

Amazon supported a 70MM IMAX release that even got a re-release 2 weeks after Mario Galaxy left theaters and almost equaled that film’s 6th week run in its’ 8th week.

This film left the IMAX theaters faster than Isreal breaking a ceasefire.

I just saw it last night in Round Rock. There were 4 empty seats in a small theater at 630 on a monday night.

You Betcha Anna Kendrick GIF

Shiggy hast spoken.

I don't who Dale Chihuly is but the people in the r/IMAX subreddit want this dude tarred and feathered. Apparently the only big IMAX in the PNW is moving towards no longer showing feature films (documentaries only).

Dale Chihuly is a famous blown glass artist. There is a museum of his work right next to the Space Needle. How this relates to the IMAX theater I don’t know.

It was always used that way when I was a kid. New releases being shown there is a relatively new thing, and it is inside the Seattle Science Center, so catering toward science and art makes more sense anyway.

I did see Interstellar, Dark Knight, and Watchmen there and it was cool, but I get this too.

God damn, I love debilitating cases of Actor Brain.

NGL him and Woody are the only actors I’d actually want to have a beer with.

The fact that he hasn’t sent a C&D to the local brewery that’s been manufacturing McConaugHaze Hazy IPA since before Covid proves MM is cool. People all think he’s involved heh.

I watched Project Hail Mary again tonight and I’m convinced unless they do the Return of the King thing with the last movie winning Best Picture with Dune Part 3 that thing is going to win right now.

Have you people even READ Dune Messiah? It’s kinda shitty. Hopefully Denis throws like 60% out.

Rewatched Friedkin's Blue Chips for the first time in many years. Used to be an always-on-cable favorite of mine when I was young. Even as a "lesser" Friedkin, it's a great movie. Nic Nolte should have received more recognition but I'm not sure non-sports people really get what he was doing here.

Also really funny to watch this morality play with the current state of college athletics.

An all time great basketball movie and I'll die on that hill.
