My account got approved. $12k is wild. Since this conversation I have been looking at models, watching YouTube videos…I like espresso, but prefer a pour over. Not sure if I would hang with the upkeep/maintenance side of having a high end machine.![]()
Not sure why. It's a classified ad for a different espresso machine from the same company. A 2022 speedster in LA. I added spaces to the link:

What kind of equipment did you enter into this hobby with? Had you ever used this equipment before (worked as a barista)? How long did it take for you to get comfortable pulling shots? It's a completely absurd amount of money for a coffee machine.
Being made in small volumes in Europe, using the best materials and designs, the quality of coffee, and the cool design somehow makes the price seem justified.
Not really much maintenance - backflush regularly, replace the group gasket annually and maybe a random other part every few years. As long as your water has the right level of minerals.
I’ve been very happy with ours that came with the thermal carafe. I can set it up the night before and OceanOfMead can just turn it on in the morning. Some Moccamaster colors are on sale for <$200 on Amazon right now. I finally grabbed one.

Do they have anything local that you enjoy?I went to Italy recently and now I'm buying a Breville Bambino. I am an idiot and don't know what I am doing, so I am not spending big money or anything. But I want to just get some Whole Foods or so tier entry level beans to get used to this with.
What can I get at the supermarket that isn't complete trash while I dial in my rig?
You all have any recommendations on cleaning the burrs in a coffee grinder? If my grinder runs out of beans for even a few moments I get an oily acrid smell. I’m wondering if I need to pull them out somehow and give them a good cleaning.![]()
