Vinyl and Beer

Yep. Saw em open for Dashbord with this nice birb background what feels like forever ago but was not even a month ago.

I always enjoyed Something to Write Home About. In my opinion, that was a pretty flawless "emo" record or whatever you wanna call it. It was the best of that subgenre. A buddy of mine from college was way into them. And when they announced they were breaking up in 2005 and having their last show in KC, he begged me to go with him and ended up paying for my travel to go to the show with him. I feel like a dick about it now, but I was poor and really did not care enough about the band to go otherwise. I also think that was my first experience getting drunk at an airport in the morning.

I ended up behaving like a total ass the one time my friend took me to see Dashbord so I am uninvited. I ended up going to this last show with another friend whose SO couldn’t go last minute. We had a blast, but apparently I am the only person whose favorite Dashboard album is Crooked Shadows because emo is not my choice genre.

I had the first Further Seems Forever record and enjoyed it. But then that dude took on a life of his own with Dashboard and I just couldn't do it.

It's especially tough with older classic rock titles where there have been a million pressings. That's if you want to be accurate. Although, on the plus side, I am now an expert in detecting a Terre Haute pressing very quickly.
100% on the Terre Haute

Saw Dashboard and Third Eye Blind when they were in Austin a few years back. Me being a massive Dashboard fan just assumed they were the headliner or most people were there to see them. Not even close... Dashboard led off and people were pretty chill. Most people didn’t even know the old stuff (Swiss Army Romance, etc.) Then Third Eye Blind went on and shit got out of control. I didn’t realize there were so many Third Eye Blind fans still out there.

Is Thursday considered emo? In high school, a bunch of us drove to Memphis and ate mushrooms and saw Thursday. This was around the time of their Full Collapse record. It was a really good experience and kinda changed my mind about some of that genre.

Not sure if they’re emo or not, but that’s a good album too. Or maybe it’s not, but I remember it fondly.
