Macallan Harmony Collection Arabica. Very soft and mellow. None of that latex that always puts me off of scotch.

Even within peated whiskies there is the balcony/camp fire smoke (lagavulin) and the medicinal smoke like ardbeg; honestly never heard anyone call that laytex or band aid, things I usually associate with Brett beers.

Anyway, try some non-peated Scotch
Scotch is wonderful and largely hasn’t been crushed by the bourbon price increases and gouging.

Grab a dram of Balvenie 21yr portwood. Or go all in on peat and have your tastebuds violated and try an Octomore.

I would say Highland Park 18 or Glenmorangie Nectar D’Or are top notch unpeated scotches.

Nose: Carmel sweetness, peanuts, cherry pits
Taste: cream brûlée, peanuts, brown sugar
Mouthfeel : slightly thick and chewy, coats the mouth. Smooth for 109 proof, goes down easy. Slightly long finish with lingering peanut aftertaste. I really like it. Was $50 at the local Jewel.

Batch 15 - 131.1°

Sweet, oaky, dark cherry, classic Stagg Jr flavors. A little drying on the palate. Finish is long. Not as much bite as some other Stagg Jr’s I’ve had. Quite enjoyable.

Been waiting for this to hit my local market.
Vanilla and cherry nose with leather notes.
Sweet vanilla, cherry cola, lite spice throughout, oaky notes in finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice sipper for $44.

Went camping over the weekend and decided to grab a bottle from a brand I haven't taken the time to dive into. You might be able to tell what I thought by the damage done.



For the proof point, and this just being a standard shelf bottle, I was impressed by how much flavor and aroma this has. I definitely get the hype for the brand.
