So that Saudi purchase of EA seems to be tied to Jared Kushners fund.
Kushner's private investment firm Affinity Partners is funded by the Saudis PIF.

Affinity is one of the partners in the EA purchase. So yeah it's in there plain as day.

I was listening to old man Jeff Gerstmann's podcast last night on the way home and they financed this and are placing a $20B debt on top of EA. It's just going to be a complete grift shitshow.

Don't expect to see an SSX Tricky sequel any time soon. It's going to be all that FIFA Ultimate League crap all the time trying to make that nut until they eventually fold. This was their Red Lobster moment and EA is completely fucking screwed. It won't be today, tomorrow, or next year but the wheels are going to fall off that thing really quick for any game that isn't making them a billion dollars per year.

EA may be screwed but I bet the executives made a lot of money!

Anyone familiar with Steam Deck? My 10 year old asked for one for Christmas. He was initially asking for a VR headset, which my wife and I are very squarely against as we're confident he'll play it for a week and forget about it.

He loves Steam though and that's where/how he does the vast majority of his gaming. I had never heard of it until a couple of days ago, but it seems cool.

I'm also out of my element, but mostly because I just don't have enough time for gaming so a switch more than covers the my gaming time. But everyone I know personally that has a steam deck absolutely loves it and most have been pushing me to get one at some point. Seems to be a great value with tons of games.

100% of my gaming involves me continuing to play Halo Infinite because I'm too stubborn/lazy to learn to play anything else. I just log on and play multiplayer until I get pissed off and quit.

Being able to play the games he already owns on it is a big part of the appeal, for sure.

People I know love their steamdeck but you'll need to decide how much you want to spend on it as there are different versions. Lutter should be able to tell you if the cheaper one is worth it or not. As far as it goes, though, the steamdeck will allow your kid to play most steam games portably, simply enough.

100% worth it. You can even use it a low level PC if need be.

I have one. It's pretty impressive what you can throw at it.

Depending on what games he likes though you should know that it might not be compatible with absolutely everything. A lot of anti-cheat in AAA online games don't play well with Linux. Fortnite, Apex Legends, Destiny 2, and Grand Theft Auto Online for instance don't work at all.

I don't play multiplayer so idontgiveashit.gif but for a kid it might make a difference. I tend to buy my indie games on PC/Steam just so I can play them on Steam Deck when travelling.

I have no fucking clue what he plays on there honestly, but I'll find out. Thank you for the info. He doesn't play Fortnite, and I don't think he plays any of the other things you mentioned either.
