The Tattoo Thread

stepping up to get tattoo #2 this summer. a tattoo to honor my (alive) kids.

in my mind the design is big'ish so i'm debating where to put it. likely going on my chest. is there any difference in time-in-chair for a color vs grayscale tattoo? color increase the cost significantly?
Nice!
In my limited experience, color takes longer, particularly if there's a lot of saturation. Grayscale typically uses a decent amount of skin breaks (depending on the image, of course).

so for instance, the skull that I have on my chest (last page, i think) took about the same time as the two roses to apply, even though it is more detailed. That whole tattoo, with all the butterflies and everything took about 12 hours, though that was through a few sessions, and my artist is not exactly fast. Frustratingly slow actually, but he's cheaper than other, similarly skilled folks in my area (I'd say he's like a 6/10 for skill. He's fine for the work i'm getting, but I would never recommend him for realism or fine line or anything.)

I've been doing a floral 1/2 sleeve and shoulder blade with blackout background that is basically complete saturation, very little if any skin breaks, and it's taking fucking forever. I've been doing this shit since like January and I'm maybe half done and it's probably at like 12-15 hours already.
