The Futbol Thread (Footy is a Terrible Word)

2 more wins and it’ll be the best season on my life.
After 90 minutes riding the struggle bus against Burnley, I gotta say I’m not overly optimistic about the CL final.

I believe it’s possible, of course. I just feel it’s a long shot. Hoping to be very wrong.

Bah. I’m a Minnesotan. Our last championship in the big 4 leagues was like 35 years ago. Thank god for the Lynx.
I’ll grant you that.

when the Phillies won in 2008, there hadn’t been a major sports title since the Sixers in 1983. the Eagles won in 2018 and that was their first ever super bowl. Flyers last won before I was born (I was born in the 70s). but it seems like you can one up any of those haha

I’m just supposed to work today like nothing happened yesterday?
Sent my son to school in his Saka jersey. I’m wearing my Pepe jersey to try to humble myself a little while also celebrating. Listening to Arsenal/Soccer podcasts all day:

The Thing About Arsenal
Football Weekly
Arsecast
Football Ramble
Handbrake Off

And waiting for Arsenal Vision to come out to listen to that.

Youri is a completely different line thickness than every other player name and you think it's "well done"?
The "A" in Emiliano is crooked,

The spacing in iSTA looks different than NBUL. Not to mention the lower case "i"

If this is a copy of an actual document somewhere then I retract my critiques.

But big pass from me.

OK not a great tattooing job but the idea/layout is cool. I retract.

Forever proving our haters right.

What really sucks is I got my grandma into following Arsenal a few years ago. She has been so excited this season. She had a stroke three years ago at 80. I worry she won’t get another season to see them lift it.

Sucks, man.
Been meaning to follow up on this. After the Bournemouth/City game, my grandma called me up to celebrate. She kept thanking me for getting her into the Prem. She has gotten so much joy from watching matches and having me explain how it all works. It has been another thing for us to bond over and enjoy together.

Has anyone ever done an England trip to attend matches?

My 40th is next year and my idea is to do about 10 days in England with my wife and kids. Obviously not limited to football but planned around a Liverpool match on one of the weekends, perhaps a Championship or League 1 match midweek and then a match in or near London on the other weekend. I understand I will likely need to buy hospitality tickets for any Prem matches that we want to attend, and am prepared to open the pocketbook, as they say, for this trip. Other than the football, we will probably spend several days in London, some in Manchester and otherwise no real plans. It might be fun to see one of the newly promoted sides? Or see a Brighton or Bournemouth match on the south coast?
