banged out a half this morning in near ideal running weather. 50 at the start. decent breeze for half the race but then it was at our backs for the final 6.A few random running things :
I finally signed up for a race this year, a half marathon in New London CT (early August).
Thursday, I ran trails with a couple peeps from the local store, the week prior, I also ran trails in a different spot with them. I had not run trails since early Autumn last year. A good challenge for a guy that runs 95% of his runs on paved residential roads. Those rocks and roots can be tricky.
This morning, I ran 19 miles at a decent pace. But, I am definitely feeling fatigued. I was thinking why do I feel so beat up ? And reading holldy01 post from last month, I realized that it was because it was nearly 80 degrees during the run.
have run the same race in past years where it's around 80 and that is just brutal. particularly because we're typically just starting to hit 60s for daytime highs about now. so it would be like 45, 52, 49, etc. in the days leading up to the race and then jump 20+ degrees for race day. the body just isn't ready for it.
