Which is why we’re gonna have a strike. Having two of the top five payrolls in the World Series this year isn’t going to help the narrative. And we all know the players union won’t agree to a salary cap.
I think a cap may be possible but with a floor, obviously. And I’m not sure they will have a choice this time unless they want to seriously jeopardize the league.
1994 was so long ago now I don’t think many of the owners remember (or care) just how painful that strike was.
This made me wonder how many teams have the same ownership as they did in 1994. I think it’s only about half a dozen.
