Moving Heavy Stuff

Interesting perspective on missing a day and doing a restart on the week. I always just pick up where I left off as soon as possible.

Having an Oly class is pretty awesome. Im not gonna lie, id love to attend one some time but I can already envision the person running it telling me how to do the front rack position and then when then see me attempting it, telling me please for the love of god just leave before you break yourself.
I definitely don't have the same goals as you when it comes to lifting. I do it because it's exercise and I mostly enjoy it so I can do it consistently. I've tried running and I always stop because running is the fucking worst. So it's easier for me to just start my week with "Monday" regardless of the day and just repeat the week the next week.

As far as the class, honestly that's my biggest fear! Being told "holy shit what are you doing, how are your knees not dust" when I show how I squat is kind of scary to think about. But I really want to do the clean & press and the motion is so weird I don't want to teach myself. So here we are.

He's always there when you need him.

Dude…. this popped up on my feed yesterday and im here to tell ya. I dont think there ever has been or ever will be a more relatable or down to earth social media influencer than him. Legit, top 3 people that would be so fun to know/hang out with.

He was the first of his kind to offer up helpful lifting advice and tutorials all for free on youtube. His humor in doing so always made it enjoyable to follow along.

From strongman to powerlifter to dad, to now just general health enthusiast who runs a gym and literally runs for fitness, it has been fun to be on the sidelines watching his evolution.

Selfishly, id love to see long beard powerlifting Alan back but holy fuck does he look good now.

Next week begins the countdown of 16 weeks until the next competition.

I decided to put my training/peaking into the hands of someone else rather than being stubborn and doing things my way only.

He thinks I am trying too hard and doing too much and wants me to concentrate all my efforts into the main lifts with subtle variations and cut way back on how much accessory work I do in the name of recovery.

I guess we shall see if this works better for me or not. It is my last shot at upping my current record and/or setting new records in this age classification.

You, work too hard? Perish the thought.
I donno man, ive always had the feeling that if im not realizing progress, im not working hard enough and ones perception of what a lot of hard work is, is limited only to what you have experienced.

So if others are still making progress and im not, im clearly not working hard enough. Right?

That was until I spoke more to this fella and he asked me how long my workouts last and how frequently I do them… I guess as we inch ever closer/beyond middle aged man status, more isnt better unless you are enhanced.

We shall see.

If it makes you feel better, I think you're an insane person who works intensely hard.

edit: I will say, I agree with the statement that more isn't always better. You can absolutely overwork yourself or just do things that aren't particularly useful towards certain goals. It doesn't really mean you shouldn't do them if you have the time, but if you have better things to do then you could just be wasting it.
