Carpano Antica was the first sweet vermouth that I bought and between how much I like it and what I've read about how it differs from other brands I haven't felt compelled to try any others. If I could justify having multiple open bottles of sweet vermouth then maybe, but I have a hard enough time going through the Carpano bottles while they're still fresh.

I got a small bottle of Dolin to get through the holidays because I was thinking of trying something new but didn’t know what to get. I appreciate the recs. Also need to get some lillet blanc for a white Negroni.

An Unusual Negroni is a negroni riff with Lillet and Aperol instead of vermouth and Campari. I usually split the difference and make one with Lillett and Campari. It maintains the same beguiling bitterness, but a little bit less intense. I probably make that about as often as a traditional negroni.

Wait, there are people out there who do two parts gin to one part of Chartreuse, Maraschino and lime?

I think that the equal parts version is downright sublime.

What else are you doing with that Green Chartreuse?

I do 1.5oz parts and I do always add some extra gin (but not double).

i had half a lime, so that was the limiting ingredient. Because I was at the end of this gin bottle, this wound up being a 2/1/1/1 version. Tasty.

A Turf Club. Gin, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur, orange bitters, and an absinthe rinse.

A peach negroni. A Liber recipe, it ups the gin, lowers the Campari, uses dry instead of sweet vermouth, and adds in some peach simple. Not replacing the standard any time soon, but a nice spin on it.

I haven't done it personally, but my first thought would be to lower Chartreuse component and either up the sweet vermouth or put a little simple in there.

Trying out a new Negroni trio with this fun cherry "vermouth" from PA's Ploughman Cider. I've really enjoyed everything I've had from them (albeit just two products) and this just looked so fun, I had to buy it. It is definitely on the sweeter side so I figured my beloved Cynar might clash (it did). Bruto can be a lot but it does work here.

Remember how I used to drink and yap about St George all the time? I still do.



A dash of orange bitters didn't hurt this.

What work tomorrow? Fuck it.
