Let's All Go to the Movies

Damn, my theater for a 7:30 pm Thursday night showing of Backrooms was full. That movie is connecting. It was a great movie to see in a theater but I don’t know if I’d bother at home. The filmmaking is strong and Parsons has visual talent but the story and the characters are a mess.

This could have been my post. 7:40 showing last night was nearly sold out, and it's rare for it to be that crowded barring some blockbuster opening weekend screenings. I had issues with the story as well, moreso than the characters, but it is undeniably a mood. I appreciated how patient it was at times as well.

Realizing that my first year in LA I've had the honor of seeing four PTA movies on film:
TWBB
The Master
Boogie Nights
One Battle After Another

And I could have seen Phantom Thread (which I have previously seen on 70mm) and Inherent Vice but had a conflict and couldn't make it.

I saw Licorice Pizza on 70mm here back in 2021.

I love this city

...alright I guess I'll go see Inherent Vice on 70mm in a couple weeks
