Musty. Acid is smooothed out. Fruit is dusty. It was better 5 years ago.

2017 Cuvee de Castleton from Captain Lawrence

Little carbonation, faint grape aroma. There was small amount of acidity. It was decent.

Oddly enough, I bought this a year ago on a store shelf for half off. Years ago, I and people from across the northeast used to wake up early and live the line life in Pleasantville NY to secure this beer. Fittingly, we were lined up on Castleton Street.

Forgot to take a picture, but I opened a 2015 Parabola today. Tasting quite good considering that wasn't a great year for it.

Smell brings me right back to the source. Dank, dusty...memories of many Belgian summers. Perfect, soft, fluffy carb. Lemony brightness off the bat, shit-ton of bitter grapefruit pith, pretty funky backbone and some sherry nuttiness on the finish as it opens. Almost reminds me of Lindemans Special Blend but not as deep, funky.

SARA Happenstance. I think it’s from 2018? It’s definitely seen better days (or at least I hope it has). There’s some citrus and minerality on the finish but overall is pretty flat, literally and figuratively.

Forest & Main Lunaire bottled 10-Aug-2017. The front end is barrel-forward/vinous. There's still some acidity and citrus (orange/tangerine) notes. The backend is a little musty/flat. Overall, the bottle has held up well. Sadly, one of my last bottles from the original location.

2014 b6, had the most recently released waxed batch (2018) as well, and today they served 2012 Flora at FoFA

Aging potential is crazy, this is a desert island beer for me. So light and drinkable with a softness and funk you can’t beat

Feb 2013 bottle date for my 10th anniversary. Holding up really well with zero oxy, though it still has that kinda chlorine flavor I get out of a lot of LPG.

I’d do it. I’ve had ‘13 and ‘14 within the past year and thought they were excellent. I’d be a little worried about the coffee though.

Yeah the coffee is most likely green pepper city at this point.

I’m a sucker for Abyss. It’s the first beer I actively searched for back in the day… so this is mostly a nostalgia pickup. My brother was in Bend for vacation and grabbed it for me. This will get consumed at some point in the next month or so. Will report back.

Prune dark fruit malt finish. I think this is 2020-21? Whenever I found a batch that was carbed proper I would buy a couple 4 packs to stash.

Oldest Bokke I’ve had, cork and caged, getting that beautiful dusty funk like you might get from a top 10% 10+yo 3F. Nice sweet barrel notes on top, seems about peaking with maintained carb and light oxidization in balance with the typical apple and lemon.
