Three bottles from last night:
- Zenne B1 has aged well. The sherry is still present, but fading. Glad to revisit this one after a long time.
- l’Esperance is something special. Cantillon aged in cognac barrels is a match made in heaven.
- 10 year old Tilquin still opens with a bang. Label on the neck stating contents under pressure still accurate. Delicious.
Back to Arlon for me this year, first time in their new spot barely a mile from the Luxembourg border. As close as we’ll get to having a Zwanze here I guess
BXL Fest is trying to clear their remaining €30k Covid debts that they didn’t cover from the profits from last year’s fest (which broke even but not much more). Crowdfunding with festival glasses, t-shirts, bottles of BXL Bruocsella Brut and a lambic tasting:
3/22/2013 bottle date. Got that label on its neck, no ragrets, letting you know shits high pressure. Tastes like lemon heads and green apple jolly ranchers got real high and went on a side quest to fuck an oak tree. and maaaaaaan… things got funky. 10/10, wish I had more. Really fuckin’ good.
Landed in BRU, quick stop at the hotel and off for a casual stop at the brewery. I enjoyed them all, but trying Old Fashioned for the first time was a treat. Amazing nose of orange peel. Subtle orange on the palate with a whisper of whiskey. May need to revisit . . . tomorrow.
