After hitting a few different sets, I bought a new set of Cobra clubs a few weeks ago because I needed new irons and for a few hundred bucks more I got new woods and a driver. I'm lucky to play one round a month normally, so no need for me to spend many thousands (yet) on super nice clubs.
I signed up to play on a team in my work league. 9 holes on Tuesday after work, normally play every other week. Last week was the first week I played (and hadn't hit any of my new clubs beyond the 20 minutes in the golf simulator) and man I sucked. Couldn't hit a drive to save my life, bad iron shots, horrible. Today I played again. Still awful drives (topping them, not making good contact, the usual) but my irons did a decent job of making it semi respectable.
On the last hole (a par 4 315), I topped the drive and it went maybe 130 yards. 6 iron for my 2nd shot put me to the right front of the pin and needed maybe 20 yards. Hit the 2nd best chip of my life and got within 8' of the pin. Putted in for par, won the hole, and fuck if that didn't feel amazing after how poorly I had been playing.
