Any noteworthy beer destinations in Eugene or Ashland? Finished trip planning and will be up that way next week.

Along the lines of what the others have said:

- Oakshire has a great beer garden with some pretty decent food truck options.
- Alesong on 5th is a chill little spot if you don't want to drive out to their main facility, which is about 30 minutes outside of town.
- The Sunriver location is in a new construction shopping type area, but the beer is very good, as is the food.
- 16 Tons is better than Bier Stein, IMO. I feel like Bier Stein has declined a lot in recent years.
- There are couple Market of Choice grocery stores in Eugene. They always have extensive beer selections. Worth checking out if you're looking to take stuff home with you.
- First National Taphouse and Beergarden are also worth checking out depending on how much time you have.

No idea about Ashland, but I don't think there are many options there.

Ashland is a great and pretty little town. But as mentioned, the local beer scene is pretty barren. Luckily you can find plenty of places with great PNW beers like Boneyard, pFriem, Fort George, etc...

Ashland had Standing Stone but I heard it just closed. (RIP)

There is a Growler Guys that has a good selection, but I question beer freshness often when I go there. They let you sample first, so definitely do that.

Caldera is ok.

I like Gil's for grub and PNW taps.

Also, there is a funky little brewery in Talent called Art Bop. Beer is mediocre, but the people that run the place are great.

Stopping in Medford for the night on the way to Portland this weekend. Anything in Medford worth checking out? Beer or wine? Food?

In Medford, Opposition Brewing is easily my favorite brewery there.

Beer Works downtown is a nice bottle shop and taproom.

There isn't much else noteworthy beer wise. I do often stop at Common Block because they have decent beer and food though.

If you want to check out some wineries, there are many good options in the area. Most aren't in Medford, but just west of town near Jacksonville / Applegate Valley. I'd be happy to give you recommendations if you are interested.

The article I just posted in the Portland thread reminded me of this as well... Vagabond Brewing has ceased operations at all locations.

Their original brewery was a real step forward for beer in Salem, and I hung out there on occasion. Victory Club, a cool divey beer bar in downtown Salem, was one of the best bars downtown and always had a strong taplist. The Portland location was nice too, but I admittedly only went there once. The weirdest thing is how they just quietly shut down. I didn't expect Victory Club to come back after shutting down at the start of COVID, but it's surprising to see them shutter entirely. I know those guys a little bit, see them out from time-to-time, and they're all well-known around town, so it's surprising they just hung it up like nothing happened.

Anyway, this really sucks. Salem's beer scene in general feels like it peaked in 2017/18 and has just been on a downward trajectory ever since. I haven't even been able to find Heater Allen Pils around town lately. I'm glad it's summer and I can get by on High Life.

Take solace in the fact you'll always have Gilgamesh.

Solera for the view. I haven’t been to Everybody’s Brewing in White Salmon, but their beer is decent.

But Mr Gundam has the correct answer. Pfriem all day.
Solera's view is incredible and their beer is good (not as good as pFriem), but I can't remember if they even have food.

pFriem is right off the highway along the Columbia and has good beer and food.
