College Football

In SoCal, this is actually the worst part of the season to go to games. Sitting in direct sunlight at the Rose Bowl in early September for 3.5 hours is very unpleasant.
It’s still warm but hopefully around 75-80

I set a tv up outside and watch on my deck or under the pergola. Usually do this until mid October

I imagine being one of them would be worse. I had a good friend in high school get a scholarship to play at BYU in the early '90's. He transferred after a year. He said it was super boring. According to him there were like two crappy dive bars and not much in the way off-campus partying or drinking.

Well yeah, drinking is not permitted and will get you booted from school (especially if you are a minority) for an honor code violation.

I will say that the state of Utah (including both U of U and BYU) probably has the most passionate, intense sports fans I've ever seen.

More preseason garbage rankings out today.... we are so close to kick off( I think some school start this weekend maybe?).

Also of note:

Aggies and the Cocks have the honor of drawing the top 3 preseason teams for their schedule.

3 times previously it had happened, NW, Minn, and Mizzou... 0-3,0-3, 1-2...

Thoughts and prayers—

Also Big10 repping hard in preseason... ACC with the lowest amount, but has the obvious #1 team. Sucks they launched their own TV deal this yr when the whole conference is way way....way down.

Preseason rankings are such a crap shoot for NCAA.

If I cared more I'd make fun of Michigan > Florida...crap, maybe I just did. Them and Notre Dame with the annual +10 spot.

Yeah they are nothing more than fun to argue about... a little bit of it’s close in terms of expectations but.... doesn’t always pan out.

Season will be awesome or utter crap under year 2 with Jimbo.

Playing 1/2/3/6/16. Better be the spoilers in a few of those games.

Well.... that Floooriduh game was.... interesting.
Such a hard game to gauge. I thought Miami created some opportunities but never capitalized on the turnovers. Also I have to say I’ve never seen two fumbles recovered and striped when there really wasn’t a pile.

Week one when you play a decent team is tough. I definitely thought that int from Franks at the end of the game was going to be the reason they lost. But Miami couldn’t stop that pass rush.

Yeah I think there was atleast one fumble where I was pretty damn certain the call was wrong, but who knows. Not even an inkling of a challenge or replay from even the booth announcers.

I also thought the last int would seal it, Miami kept going backwards, even with the what..... 2-3 pass interference calls they still couldn’t manage shit.

Yeah I was yelling at the TV so much. The Malik Davis (UF RB) fumble and in which he recovered his own fumble with his knees and elbows down and then got hit while getting up and fumbled was an odd miss - thought for sure Mullen would challenge that.

5 fumbles and Miami recovered 4 of them.

What a sloppy mess of a game though. Really tried to give Miami all 9 lives through turnovers and extending horrible situations on drives with pass interference's and late hits out of bounds.

Thankfully Miami played without a left tackle all night or that freshman QB would have won it for them - kid looked legit AF considering his situation. Actually felt bad for him by the end of the game. Took their coach way too long to give the freshman LT help with our DE's.

So far, exactly what I expected. That 3 and out to start the game, followed by a solid UCLA drive and then turnover inside the 5, followed by a zero-resistance touchdown drive by Cincy is peak UCLA football.

A little concerning that Kelley hasn't seen the field yet.
Well, that was a nice pass and a better run
