Let's All Go to the Movies

I don’t even know what to say about that Snyder Cut trailer.

4x3 Academy Ratio?

Did that dude start hanging out with Wes Anderson or something? Jesus.

Regardless of what they do it’s still polishing a turd.

Kids are picking through my parents’ vhs tapes. Last couple days was Dances with Wolves. Tonight is Forrest Gump. For me two “classics” during my lifetime on par with just about any movie. My son asked tonight if Gump was Hanks’ best movie. As I think about it, I can’t think of one better. Private Ryan?

In all seriousness, Toy Story, Big or Philadelphia would be my choice.

He filmed it in IMAX and wants to retain the ratio. Which yeah totally makes fucking sense for a RECUT MOVIE MADE FOR A STREAMING SERVICE. Snyder is insane.

A League of Their Own or The Burbs. Probably The Burbs but League has Jon Lovitz, so it’s hard to say.

Private Ryan and I am a huge fan of Green Mile. And no mention of Cast Away yet?

It would be easier to make a list of bad Hanks movies.

Can’t pick a great Hanks but no joking, The Burbs might be favorite movie that he’s in. That, or Joe vs The Volcano. Something about those movies right before he was “the best” and right after his breakout in Big.

Bachelor Party is awesome, though.

Watched Let Him Go tonight. Grizzled Yellowstone Costner (honestly, he may have just filmed it not knowing he was not in character) and roughed up Diane Lane. If you aren’t screaming at your TV halfway through about just cliched stupidity, you arent watching. Pretty much Unforgiven without Eastwood. I think they even used the same soundtrack. Depending on your thoughts about grandparents rights to their grandkids (hint, as a lawyer, you are fucked) may influence your thoughts. I thought it was enjoyable but in all honesty I wanted Costner and Lane to get what they had coming.

Love Castaway and Big was one I thought about. Philadelphia was great...wonder if the kids can hang with it. Ultimately Gump is such an amazing story and character, I’m not sure I can be swayed.

toy Story didn’t come to mind so much...while I love the movie and what he did, how do u judge the voice in animation compared to acting out a scene in the flesh. Did he have that much creative involvement? Love the movie, but I usually laud Pixar for it.

I like Gump, but I always kick it to the curb because it won best picture over Pulp Fiction and/or Shawshank.
