Let's All Go to the Movies

I watched The Breakfast Club for the first time about a year ago. Just never saw it when I was younger for some reason. Watching it as an adult I found the teenagers to all be unlikable assholes and mostly identified with the principal. I'm sure if I watched it when I was 18 I would've felt differently. Not that that's exactly the same as Nurse Ratched, but still, it's all about perspective.
I saw The Princess Bride for the first time this year and feel the same way. I was completely disinterested in the movie and still don’t understand why anyone actually likes it.

On the Rocks - 6/10

Sofia Coppola directs Rashida Jones and Bill Murray as they stalk her Wayans' brother husband through New York trying to catch him cheating. Malaise of the upper class stories don't hit me these days, so it was hard to get invested. But Jones and Murray have great chemistry and I did love Murray's performance as the smooth-talking rich goofball. High floor; tough movie to outright dislike. Not much going on here that would make it a great movie though.

I didn't even recognize him in Marvelous Mrs Maisel. His face has spread outward in all directions. He looks like a proper Englisman now. I feel like in another 20 years, he and Hugh Grant will be indistinguishable.
How poorly he was aging was the scariest part of the first Saw movie. I’m more used to his current appearance now.

Possessor is now available to rent/purchase on streaming sites and I'm def watching this shit soon as I'm done with work for the day

Oh I wanted to point out that even though the streaming title is POSSESSOR UNCUT, there is in fact only one cut of Possessor. My guess is the distributor didn't want to go through the ratings process as there is no way this could have even received an R from the MPAA.

Possessor: Holy fuck what a ride, this felt like a mashup of the best and most fucked up parts of Ghost In The Shell, Mandy, and Inception. So gnarly and so satisfying, yet somehow it's both the prettiest and most sadistic gorefest all at once. Really wish it would've been possible to see this in a theatre to do justice to the awesome color work and synth sounds.

I checked this out on Vudu and it looks like the R-Rated cut is also included there as a bonus feature.

The rating description for parents made me laugh.

"The unrated uncut version (which is the one reviewed here; an R-rated cut is also available) has tons of bloody, brutal violence, including killings, stabbings, beating, gore/platter, eyeballs being pried out, fingers getting chopped off, blood vomiting, and generally creepy/scary stuff. Police shoot a Black woman fatally, and a child is shot. There's also graphic sexual content, including images of an erect penis, topless women, full-frontal male nudity, thrusting, grinding, simulated oral sex, and more. Language includes uses of "f--k," "s--t," "c--k," and "bitch." The main character "vapes" more than once, and characters snort cocaine and drink socially. A smoking pipe is shown."

That's a lot of spoilers bro.

But the UNCUT is still the actual version that was released to festivals and critics in the spring when it was just called POSSESSOR. This isn't a situation where "theatrical" is what the director and editor settled on. UNCUT doesn't contain extra scenes from the cutting room floor for the fuck if it like many "uncuts" or "director's cut". UNCUT is for all purposes the only "cut".

Breakfast Club is my all time favorite movie. Seen it a bazillion times.
