Bitter AF but not offensive
Got lucky two winters ago and walked right into a random allocated drop while doing grocery shopping. Scored one of these for the same price. I should probably get around to opening that soon...NH liquor lottery win. Haven't had this in probably ten years. $45 out the door.
Well this week I also won the local lottery in our new neighborhood... Only this one was entitled "Who's stupid enough to over pay for these allocated bottles?"...NH liquor lottery win. Haven't had this in probably ten years. $45 out the door.
... Apparently I was the winning ticket... Early Christmas gifts to myself...

In my limited experience, the Single Barrel is noticeably better than the Small Batch, but YMMV. Single Barrel gonna Single Barrel.

Sitting on my couch during the first quarter of the Bears game Sunday, phone rang with a phone number from my town. It was my local Binny’s - just a REMINDER that I was a winner in their BTAC lottery….okay, definitely never got any email, but thanks for the reminder. No choice in which bottle you got, but I’d be happy with anything, obviously.

12 year port finish and that light doesn’t give me much hope, especially at 80$
Kaiyo is a NDP in Japan, but supposedly they source all of their whisky from Japanese distilleries. Given that everything in the picture is finished single barrel, I wonder what sort of stock and/or distillate they are getting from other distilleries? They do have standard offerings listed on their website.

Visited Firefly's for some great BBQ and Bourbon... Their bourbon menu is extensive and mostly reasonable... I mostly opt for the EC Taylor Small Batch at $10 a pour..... With burnt ends as always...
Now home enjoying a Whisky that's like an old friend still the great peaty Islay malt it's always been....
