Kind of odd that the NBA scheduled the eastern conf 9/10 play in game last night along with the 7/8 Western conf game. Seems like the winner of tonight's EC 7/8 game gets less of an advantage than Portland, who has an extra day to rest and prepare for their 1st round matchup. Plus the loser of tonight's EC game has to play back to back, while Phoenix got a day off.

I assume it's for TV purposes, they can more easily play an east coast game in primetime ET and then a west coast game in primetime PT. Two east coast games means either awkward start times or the games overlapping.

The Magic and Sixers play tonight as the 7/8 game. It seems like they should’ve played last night instead of hornets and Miami so still would have EC/WC split.
But I figured it out. Flyers were home last night so the arena was in use. I wasn’t paying attention to who was playing, just the seeds. Bad break for Philly but go Orlando anyway.

Ah gotcha, I didn't think of that part. But yeah that makes sense and in particular there's no way they could know who's in the play-in games in advance in order to schedule around NHL/NBA arena dual use.
