The 3D Printing Thread

X1C is $799 on Flash Sale today.

Just be advised that I heard from a good source that the entire X1 line is now EOL as of *checks watch* right now (including the E model). Once it goes outta stock the entire line is dunzo.

Wow, what a great deal. H2P(?) being announced soon?

H2S is coming September 9th, iirc. Review units are already out in the wild and positioning is being done in warehouses so they can announce and have units available for purchase immediately.

The price will surprise you. It's >significantly< cheaper than the H2D. That's why the X1s are being cleared out.

T-Pain being a 3D printing nerd later in life is so fucking wholesome hahah. He literally the featured Artist on “I’m on a Boat” now he’s printing Benchys.

Well that date was wrong, lol. Maybe that's for whatever dealer I heard that date from. Out now. $1249 standalone $1499 combo.

That's not the interesting part though. This is: the Bambu Vortek coming later this year. I'm hearing this can be added to a H2S or H2D as well (it goes on the right hand side of the build plate). No idea what the pricing will be. It's very similar to Bondtech INDX (except that solution moves the filament, this solution moves hotends). Both are induction heated to heat the filament in 7-8 seconds.

Prusa then immediately announced their own INDX solution for Core One.

Things are heating up fast for toolchangers!

We just got the H2D running yesterday at work. Really nice so far. Much quieter than the X1. Print quality has been great.

6 hours? Are they trying to tempt me with a good time? ;)

Have you tried doing any support interfaces yet? (PVA, PETG, etc) That's the only reason I would want an H2D but it wasn't working great in the initial units. They've probably improved it by now.

My favorite 3D printer reviewer here reviewing that Snapmaker toolchanger burning up Kickstarter.

Started working on prints for trick or treaters. Just plan on putting these on a table with a black light in my driveway. Gonna need probably 120ish toys given our past costumed children history.

This is Polymaker Luminous glow PLA. Rainbow gradient on these (but I also have green and orange I am using for other prints).

Time for me to get a second P1S?
P2S was just announced yesterday. Looks like a nice printer. They fixed the screen to match the H2/X1 series and are using the same type of extruder as the H2S:

As long Trump as TACOs on the Chinese tariffs it should be coming in at $749-$799 w/ AMS2 based on prices in other regions.

I know and used or clearance P1S units should be cheap. There's no good reason for me to upgrade to P2S.

If anything I'll get a H2D or H2C. I've been very impressed with the H2D at work.

Yeah the way I’ve been printing I’ll probably eventually get an H2D. I like the idea of 1 color printing with a 2nd extruder just for support material. I tend to use my multi color systems for just that right now and it’ll be much quicker. I also want to fuck with materials between 300-350C that machine can handle.

Conversely I want to upgrade my Prusa to INDX when that comes out for 7 color multicolor prints. I like that community for the tinkering/building part of my brain.

I’m weirded out by Bambu’s privacy practices but I’ve been using LAN/Dev mode to communicate directly with the printer and that’s been working fine the last few months. Been enjoying being able to use both printers in OrcaSlicer.

Agree if you can pick up cheap P1S do it. Especially if you add the BigTreeTech color screen to it. I just hate that little dot matrix screen it has. I use my screens for almost everything on my printers now and that would be super annoying.

The Sunlu AMS heater I ordered just showed up. I'll probably set it up after work today and see how it goes.
As someone who prints a lot of PETG I really need to look into one of these when the A1 becomes compatible with AMS/AMS2. The humidity this summer made it impossible to print without throwing PETG in the dryer for 6-8 hours at 60C even leaving it out for just 2-3 days.
