My buddy gifted me Root on Steam. I've been interested in playing for a while but dang, Steam games are more full fledged video game than board game. It's wild. More like playing Warcraft. Not complaining, more super impressed than anything.

In terms of board games though the wife gave me a V-Day present of being up for playing a couple rounds of board games. We played a round of Leaf + an expansion. I beat her 60-61. We then played Splendor Duel where I would have lost but she tipped her hand that she was about to win and I made a couple lucky moves and beat her at the last minute. A couple super fun rounds.

Power grid Korean expansion at the annual broomball cabin weekend. It was my first time playing and it got really heated when I bought a bunch of resources to prevent a friend from powering his power plant so that I had a chance to comeback. Fun game.

Found a few more opportunities to play mahjong and am really getting into it. Learned to play Chinese style at work and tonight I found a local brewery that has mahjong night. It was Filipino themed with Pinoy style mahjong, a Filipino popup serving rice bowls…very well attended. I will be doing this regularly.
