Last.fm Now Independent, Promises Your Scrobbles Are Safe

Last.fm has announced it is fully independent for the first time since 2007, promising users that scrobbles and other data will remain intact.

Not exactly sure what impact this will have on the service, but it's crazy to think they've been around longer than most social media companies. I've been using it since early 2005, which probably puts it among my longest tenured online accounts (that still exist). Funny to think I used to actually use it to interact with randos on the internet.

2008 for me. was just playing a best of lastfm 2009 playlist tonight. the taste of college.

I just got a text from my daughter who is at her mom’s. She has independently discovered Rickshaw Billy’s Burger Patrol and sent me “Sister Militia” to listen to cause she thought I’d like it. She “listens to it 4 times a day”.

DDT….I have succeeded in at least one thing in my life. Only my favorite song by my favorite band of last year.

Björk at Pinkpop 1994. Stumbled across this last weekend and it's absolutely incredible. She's amazing (obviously) and the band is super tight. They play most of Debut and a couple tracks from the yet-to-be-released Post. Highly recommended if you're looking for something to do this weekend.
