Random Food Thoughts

We did get a very cheap bag of restaurant style flour tortilla chips the other week and I could not remember the last time I had them. When they are great they are great (fresh and crispy out of the fryer) but corn is king for bagged chips.

Go get ya some Calidad chips and it'll change your mind. They're like $2.50 for a big bag at the Mexican grocery store. Tostitos can pound sand.
Never had these. Tostitos suck and are awful for dipping. Most commercially available tortilla chips are over salted and lack any real corn flavor.

for what purpose?
Dipping for sure. I think the texture holds up better and lets more of the dip flavor come through. But just for snacking…I’m still taking a lightly salted flour chip.

And a fresh flour tortilla chip with cinnamon sugar? Amazing. A corn chip can’t handle that.

Push pop sushi is absurd and expensive. May go back and try the pick your own pieces but my assumption overall is Osaka is still way better bang for your buck in terms of sushi in the Loop. This is just for the Gram.
Every time I've seen these the pricing is just dumbassery.

Much rather go to my local where I can get a roll, 8 nigiri, soup, and salad for $24.

Osaka is on Michigan Ave a few blocks away. Their sushi is decent if not fancy/earth shattering. But they do some spectacular boba smoothies there. Pick 1-2 fruits, add boba if you like. Get 1-2 rolls. A+ lunch in Grant Park on a warm day.
