US - West Portland

Interurban is closing, which sucks. Always had a solid taplist and you could count on them to have Russian River beers even back when that wasn't a normal thing around town. Plus their bourbon selection kicked ass.

Another victim of the culture shift to staying home and not drinking, I guess.

I used to enjoy it there a lot, after 2019 they got a new chef and it wasn’t the same since. For my Russian River fix, I usually go to Side Street just off Belmont, they usually have interesting stuff on tap.

Coming to Portland end of may. Staying at my sister's near 24th & Broadway. Looking for rec's for cool spots that have good food, better taplists, and are family friendly. Down to meet up. Also a good bottleshop.

Steeplejack Brewing is literally at 24th & Broadway. Good beers & food there. Kid friendly.

Other breweries that allow kids that I'd recommend are:
* Away Days. Has one of the better smash burger carts in the city.
* Baerlic Brewing. The one on SE 11th has a Ranch Pizza inside. Haven't been to the NE Alberta one yet.
* Level Beer. There are two on the NE side: Level 1 is out past the airport and has a large patio that'll be nice if the weather cooperates; Level 3 is much closer to where you'll be staying, has a solid smash burger cart, a patio, and a bunch of pinball machines & some other games.
* Pfriem Milwaukie.
* Breakside. The original Dekum location is probably the closest to where you're staying, but the Slabtown location is cool too if you're over that way. There's also Lil BBQ by the Dekum location which is supposed to be some pretty great BBQ.
* If you make the pilgrimage to Powell's, the Deschutes Portland pub is right near there. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

For bottle shops, your best bet is probably Belmont Station. Fairly close to where you'll be, especially if you have a car. It's also one of the better taprooms in the city. I'm pretty sure they allow kids up until a certain time, but I can't find anything online to confirm that. Horse Brass is also close by and allows kids until 5. They're not a bottle shop, but it's a Portland beer institution. If Belmont isn't kid friendly, John's Marketplace on Powell is great too. Definitely kid friendly, has a bar, food cart pod, and 2019 Tilquin right on the shelf!

Unfortunately Beermongers is 21+, but let us know if you want to come stand on the sidewalk and wave while we slam Underbergs.

Don’t know how old the kids are, but if they’ve ever read any of the Ramona Quimby or Henry Huggins books, there is a Beverly Cleary statue garden a few blocks from Steeplejack. She’s from Portland. Took my daughter there a few years ago and she loved it.

Great list, thanks. I am planning a Beermongers night. Will reach out closer to when we will be there.

Function NW is closing at the end of the month. The NE location will remain open though. I didn't go there very often since I'm not in that neighborhood that much, but the subterranean part of the bar was a nice cozy hangout during the dark, rainy months, and it had a great patio for the summer/fall. I'm glad the NE location will continue, but I like the NW location better.

Keeping in mind that I haven't been there in 15-ish years, Sam's Hollywood Billiards was a great place to hang out. Very solid food, including some of the best burgers I've ever had. Vibe was always chill, and it's a full bar.

Also, I love playing pool.

That sucks. I liked that place.
