US - West Portland

I saw a post from Foreland yesterday along the lines of "Fuck it. We're coming back to Portland." I can't find it now, but I wonder if that means they're moving back into the Beer Study or if it'll be a new spot. I know they tried to sell or rent out the Beer Study location but it fell through. I'd be good with that place coming back. Cozy AF.

Or maybe they were drunk and realized their mistake when they sobered up and that's why I can't find the post now.

My gut says they own the building, no wants to rent so they may as well just staff if with one person and roll with it. Easy spot for then to store stuff for self distro as well right?

I'll be glad to have them back. Always down for a fireside beer.

Alright folks. The lovely wife and I are headed up to Portland tomorrow. If you see any olds wearing Final Gravity Roseville gear, come say, "hi." We'll be traveling with beer.

We plan on hitting all of the normal beer loving spots, plus some that are dear to us from our time living in Portland.

Arrived last night and needed to do a little shopping, so we hit up the New Seasons down the street. Then of course, hit the Concordia Ale House across the street for some nostalgia. It hasn't changed much!

Day two (yes, you all get to hear about my trip) spent the day in Sellwood where I owned my first home. Had lunch at Gino's which is still awesome, then stopped into the Portland Bottle Shop for a beer. Cool spot that was not around when I lived there.

The wife and I came home for a nap then waited for our friends from Santa Rosa to arrive on a late flight. The Horsebrass was still serving food late!

PDX day 3:

Met a buddy who's one of the founders of GN at their spot in NW Industrial. Had some beers. While there, we met the owners of Brujos, so we decided to hop on in their spot for the first time. Super cool and the tacos were great!

Drove back to the house to meet our friends who were finishing up work and started walking towards Saraveza (another nostalgia stop). We popped in the the McMenamans Chapel pub for a quick drink to get out of the rain. It was pretty predictable McMenamins. Continued on to Saraveza for dinner and drinks.

After dinner we walked across the street to The Tulip Shop which was cool, but I think too hip for olds like us.

On the way home we popped into the Florida Room for some more drinks. Very friendly vibe in there. We were pretty hammered by then, so one beer then continued on home. To drink more of course!

Currently enjoying some Pine State and planning our Friday.

Oh yeah, also scored a date with abawol01 for Saturday! CC: Date Night Pics thread.

PDX Day 4:

Are you all tired of seeing my face yet? I have taken more selfies on this trip than I have in my entire life. Apparently, for some reason I want to remember turning 50. . .

Late start again, we were all pretty rough in the morning and the WFH'ers had a long day. We finally did make it out of the house in the evening to meet up with the owner of Little Beast brewing at his beer garden in SE. Had a few delicious beers, ate some cheesy bites, and discussed a beer collab for our bar's 15th anniversary, yay!

He wanted to take us to the Reel M Inn for some famous dive bar chicken and jo-jo's but it was closed for an event. Sad! So he took us down to The Beer Mongers (quite possibly my favorite beer bar of all time). We had a couple of drinks there, but it was getting late and we were getting hungry so we needed to get going.

24 Hotcake House here we come! #j/k it's no longer 24 hours. Once again, sad! So over to Cartopia on Hawthorne. The Greek food cart was legit, as was the poutine place.

Then back home to eat and fall asleep to a movie.

Day 5 here we come!

The fried chicken is legit.

Yesterday was chill. Gave our friends a mini walking tour of downtown then dropped them off at the airport. The wife and I picked up some Apizza Scholls on the way back to the house and stayed in and alcohol free.

I still fucking love this city and I'm sad to leave.

Shout out to abawol01 for the recs, the beers, and the drive. Thanks coach and Leftoverburrito for taking the time to stop by Beermongers and hang for a bit.

We'll be back! (actually, we're strongly considering taking part in the Bridge Pedal next August).
