Phish Thread

Also, I hit up N1 of Bethel. My friends have a house that is walking distance and I got us all cheap lawns since they were willing to check it out. Got there early so they could take in the sights. The Shakedown was enormous so it worked out well. Ran into a bunch of people which was nice. Bethel is a very cool venue, even without the Woodstock association.
N1 had some really interesting stuff. The first set had jammed out renditions of Sample and Gumbo which segued nicely into I Saw it Again which I had just seen at N1 Mansfield but I absolutely love that tune. Also, I got to say that “I saw I Saw it Again again.”
Then Set II had a YEM that had a jam after the vocal jam. Ok, why not? I had fun explaining to my friends why these things were so strange and exciting. Until that point, the show was almost entirely 1.0 stuff and not super approachable for the non-initiated but they took it in stride. Set II was a little more newb friendly with Fuego, Boogie on, Wilson and Possum.
I didn’t go night 2 but we could hear much of the first set from the backyard while we were cooking up pizzas. However, at some point maybe the wind patterns changed and we didn’t hear anything from Divided Sky until the end of the show. N2 looked like a burner.
My friends enjoyed themselves and appreciated the music for what it was. I don’t think I’ve converted them but I wasn’t expecting that. My friend was impressed with the crowd and said it was the best crowd he’s experienced in the US.

I put that show on the morning after while I was doing stuff in the yard. I didn't look at the song timings. I was kinda passively listening until I was about 7-8 minutes into Sample when I had to check to see if it was still Sample. Awesome & very rare type 2 version! Sounds like it was a great time. Glad to hear your friends enjoyed it too!
 
I’ll chime in from Hartford. The jams were tasty. That’s what you need to know. ASIHTOS maybe my fave (the last 5’ of that jam was awesome) but Sigma(!!) Sand(!), Wave of Hope(!!!), Blaze on->wedge(!) all have reasons to revisit more than once. I barely relistened to the May Charleston show I was at but have listened back to Sunday twice already. Everything was well played, I like breath and burning, I like plasma, I like what they did with farmhouse. I like that Trey likes number line and I feel bad that it (and Yarmouth rd, bc I have seen almost 1/4 of its performances) is my only setlist complaint from Sunday. Not an unmissable Sunday but highly recommended. Hope the jams keep coming.

File Sigma Oasis under "Songs I Never Thought They'd Take Type 2." I've only heard set 1 so far, but that was the highlight.

I need to check out set 2. On paper, it's a hilarious troll since those last 3 songs seem to be hated by a vocal majority of the fan base. Then the first ever Tube > First Tube encore has to be awesome

I'll be there all three nights. I think we only have tix for one, but we're just going to pick up some (hopefully) cheap lawns closer to the date. Got shut out of pav/pit tickets by the ticketbastard "progressive" pricing thing.

Not sure what our plan is for tailgating. I'm sure we'll get there early at least one day. We talked about trying to go to the Great Taste of the Midwest back when we were initially planning, but not sure if we'll do that. Otherwise, we'll probably hit up some Milwaukee bars/breweries beforehand. I'd like to go back to Burnheart's one of the days before a show. Really liked that place last time I was in The Good Land.
 
did N2 at Jones Beach yesterday. Was an excellent show. And to top it off, it was by FAR, the best weather Phish has had at JB in 20 years. Usually it's torrential rains or swelteringly hot. This was neither. Plus security wasn't insanely aggressive and causing massive delays like usual. Only negative was the cops were out in full force in the lot. Saw a couple people getting arrested and heard they were ticketing for open containers, which is the norm for that venue. Long Island cops are gonna Long Island cop, I guess.
Also, the lighting rig was way different than what I saw at Great Woods and Bethel. The JB stage is not really covered and goes way higher than an amphitheater stage. It was probably the best light show I've ever seen. Unfortunately hard to capture in photo and I don't like taking video.

Sapwood Cellars is great and I believe doing some special releases tomorrow. I'll be there at some point tomorrow.

Went this afternoon. Brother picked me up from BWI and went into the city. Hit Max’s Taphouse. First time there. Went to Sapwood before we checked into the hotel. Solid beer. I think we’re going to drive to Pherm tomorrow at open and Elder Pine on Sunday. And then rage the lawn :)

I have no food or drink suggestions for that area but if you want the best parking situation, don’t park in the lots at MPP. Across from the park on Little Patuxnet are these corporate parks with tons of parking. You can typically park there for free and it’s way easier to get out after the show. Plus, you can skip past the lines going in if you just go around the line that starts in the right lane from the highway. Just stick to the left and you save so much time.
Have fun. MPP is the best.

I'll be there all three nights. Freaking though because we're having trouble finding a decent shuttle from Milwaukee. Brat House is leaving at 1:30 every day and Who's on Third is fucking $85 a day. Anyone got some recs? coach what are the good breweries to hit? We're all beer guys so that's pretty much the plan to bounce around.

I'm not from there, and really haven't spent a lot of time in Milwaukee, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. In 2019, we went to Water Street Brewing and Good City Brewing. I wouldn't recommend Water Street based off the food and one beer I had. Good City was pretty good, and their space is very nice. It's right downtown next to the Bucks' arena.

Burnheart's and Sugar Maple are both great beer bars in the Bay View neighborhood. I really like Burnheart's and will lobby to go back.

Other than that, I'm not much help. Really failing to live up to my handle.

Everyone seems to love Eagle Park, not my favorite but ymmv.

Third Space Brewing is a great place. Just across the street to Sobelman’s for one of the best burgers in the city.

You are walking distance from Lakefront Brewery. Take the tour.

You’re also very close to Central Waters new Milwaukee taproom. It’s a must stop
