Jerm where do you stand on this issue? Come out of your shell!

Just walked by today on my afternoon constitutional. I've actually never been to the turtle races. But have been to Brennan's once in my early 20s.

I went to a turtle race in the 90’s. Amusing but not my thing.

Side note, I had a case involving extreme fetishes and this place held a monthly club meeting for the group.

I took some out of town friends once and they got weirded out. IIRC there were some skinheads there that night. Definitely a weird crowd.

In a few weeks I’ll be making my annual pilgrimage to Long Beach for the Grand Prix. Traditionally we’ve visited Beachwood after the race but we had a negative experience last year and looking for something new. My group is usually between 8-12 men and we’re looking for good food and beer. Any recommendations? Help me out BigFrank

Beachwood is out and there is a newer brewery there called Ism. I am not drinking, but I've heard good things. Currab tried them I think. Their food was very good. Next door is Congregation Alehouse, a decent option in the area. 4th Horseman is nearby with pizza. If you want to go to second street, Simmzy's has a nice selection of food and drink.

If you have never been, LB's oldest bar Joe Jost's is turning 100. Cool place with schooners of macro, hot dog sandwiches, pickled eggs and roasted peanuts.

ISM has some excellent beer. If you are in the area it sounds like a greta place for a beer and a drink. I agree with BigFrank Joe Jost's is a staple and I love their pickled eggs. Joe Jost's has a very old school feel to it. Can't go wrong with any of BigFrank 'a recs.

will be in LA december 6-10 tagging along for my wife's conference. no plans, staying downtown right near the conference center. will scroll through the thread but specifically wondering about best breweries close-ish by (ideally on public transit) and best fancier restaurant within quick drive/walking distance? will have tons of free time so any other recs are welcome as well. thinking about trying to catch a lakers or clippers game too.

You can take the metro rail up to chinatown and go to Highland Park and Homage. Highland Park has pretty awesome food (casual).

Sonoratown, guerilla tacos for mexican (casual).
Howling Rays (chicken sando), Amboy (hamburger), Yang Chow (chinese) in chinatown

Fancy - Bestia, Girl and the Goat, Bavel. none of these are metro train friendly.

Word of caution, fancy dinner and LA public transit may not go together. uber is probably a lot better.

Ton of fun things in Koreatown if you are up for that. LMK

Speaking of which, I'm in town late next week.

Anyone around Wednesday night? Thinking Korean probably. Or Holbox. Or maybe finally Guelaguetza. Anyway I'd love to see anyone who is around and wants to join.

I've always liked Factory Kitchen too.

Manuela is another good option.

I agree K-Town opens up a whole other universe of options.
