Europe Looking for recs in Budapest/Krakow/High Tatras Mountains

Slovakia thoughts... Maybe it was because we were only in Kosice for a couple hours and then in the High Tatras Mountains for a couple days, but Slovakia appears to be behind the curve in terms of craft beer. Pretty damn solid macro pilsners that I happily enjoyed drinking, but a lot of middling malty IPAs with some of that unwanted peanut butter imperfection. My brother-in-law who lives in Morocco and has zero access to anything other than his homebrew was happy, so I stayed quiet and didn't rain on his parade.

Poland... Wow. Poland has an incredible craft beer scene. I really liked Browar Fortuna's Pilsner that I had on draft one night at dinner, and I thought Harpagan, Ziema Obiecana, Funky Fluid, Hoplala and Brokreacja all made IPAs that would hold up against the good stuff in the PNW.
Fully agree with your Slovakia sentiments. Zero craft beer thus far, just good/great pilsners. I've been waiting 8.5 years...and counting.

I need to get back to Poland...fun beers. They also have very good fests during warmer months.

Going to spend a week in Vienna and then a few days in Budapest in the beginning of May. Unfortunately it seems a good chunk of recommendations for Budapest in this thread have closed over the past 6 years. Any updated recommendations on favorite restaurants, bars (beer, wine, cocktails) , bottle/wine shops or wineries to look out for to bring a few bottles home or museum/sightseeing/tourist activities? Also a favorite hotel or neighborhood to stay in?

If by chance you end up in Bratislava, even passing through, recommend eating and drinking at Meštiansky Pivovar (they have two locations). Some traditional food and good lagers, both pale and dark. IIRC, they even do flights. http://www.mestianskypivovar.sk/home
Since Bratislava is so close to Vienna, I’m sure we’ll do at least a day trip there. Any favorite bars/things to do in the city?
