Live Performances - upcoming & reviews

Winter concerts relevant to my interests are dropping this week. Hoping to grab Gogol Bordello at Concord Music Hall Feb 24 in presale tomorrow and the tour announcement for Hellogoodbye Zombies!Aliens!Vampires!Dinosaurs! Anny tour is dropping today. I already have the March 6 Chicago date on my calendar from a preview post. Going to be an okay winter.

I'm hoping to buy tix for Waxahatchee & MJ Lenderman in about 40 minutes. But that's post-winter in May.

Definitely going to see Tobacco City (from Chicago) in Portland on 1/30 at The Showdown, which will be a new-to-me venue. Looks very small. Debating getting tix for Pearl Charles & Rose City Band in Portland on 12/15, but that's a Monday and I'm old.

Got both in presale. And just realized Margo Price at Metro is smack between the two. What a lit two weeks that will be.

Caught Khruangbin on their "TUSUY ii" small venues tour when they came through Portland last night. I have wanted to see them live for a while now, but as they've mainly been playing larger venues like Edgefield (7000ish capacity), I've been less interested. The chance to catch them at the Crystal Ballroom (more like 1500, though definitely felt at/over capacity last night) was too good to miss. Their set was incredible. Their opening act was a Portland local jazz group called the Cosmic Tones Research Trio who did a phenomenal job setting the stage. I had never heard of them before but I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open to see if they play around town.
