Collectible Trading Cards

Whatnot is not a good thing, especially if you are aimlessly scrolling with a couple beers in your system. Probably part of the reason there are lawsuits against it. Essentially a gambling website.

I also don’t like supporting breakers. I get it. Understand the appeal for people. But they are why this stupid hobby is so expensive right now.

My 6 year old has gotten into Pokémon. Holy fuck the scalpers man.

We have one of the machines at the grocery store and one of those mofo’s was just camped out.
Me: “any chance you could let a kid get a pack?”

No response…

Yeah, those losers suck ass

What does the kid like? Just looking for things to open or does he have any favorites?

She doesn’t give a shit at all honestly. Just rippin’ packs. If it’s shiny then she’s in. With my limited research it seems like Perfect Order isn’t great and bro was even scalping those.

I haven’t opened since base set so I’m pretty oblivious to this new Pokémon culture.

Yeah, that set should stay pretty cheap and available regardless of the scalpers.

I have found that those machines are kind of randomized and release products from time to time. Probably the reason those guys stand there wasting their time for hours, but check on your way in and out if you're shopping.

And let me know if she ends up with a favorite. I usually have some things lying around.

Every time I’m in the store I tap the screen on the way in and out but haven’t had any luck thus far.

I’ll be sure to let you know if she finds a favorite. Thanks!

Actually managed to find some cards for my daughter this week. Walgreens and WalMart of all places.

“Dad! This one has 170 so it’s the best!”

Went by the grocery store after work and the same scalper was camped out at the machine. This time he had an entire scalper posse though. Bro must have figured out when it re-vends.

I’m not one to take pictures of random strangers but fuck this guy…

He must know the exact times when product releases. Shows up 3-4 minutes before it releases, grabs his packs, and bolts. Last night he scored an entire one pack. He’s fucking everywhere too… I’ve been to 3 different HEB’s this week and seen him at every single one.

I thought shit was bad when I was a kid but this is nuts; so glad we didn't have card vending machines then. I remember when The Dark came out and most stores were putting low pack purchase limits on new Magic cards. My dad and I hit several stores to be able to split a couple dozen or so packs between the two of us. And back then you didn't have scalpers nearly like you do today.

One of the few things that makes me appreciate being old I guess.

It’s shitbags like this and the breakers that are ruining the hobby. Hence why I’ve started just buying singles. I’ll buy an occasional box to scratch the itch, but I’d rather buy some prospects and hold onto them. Makes it more fun for me.

Had an interesting eBay experience yesterday. Checked on any new Chase Delauter autos and found a Topps /99 auto. It was listed buy it now for $5.75. Obviously a mistake, but it was on there for a good 10-15 minutes so I bought it. Dude messages me and says "oh somehow ebay listed this with the wrong price". No that's not the case since you have to confirm everything. I said that sucks, but I'll pay a little extra for better shipping. Instead he refunds my money and relists the card for $95. Am I wrong that he should have bit the bullet and sent it because he made a mistake? Do I leave negative feedback? This was a first for me. Had it happen one other time on a card but the dude immediately messaged me and told me he didnt mean to relist it and ended up sending me another card for free.

He can't be forced to ship it but will receive a defect to his seller account if he used the appropriate cancellation reason. Just make sure he didn't cancel with the reason, "buyer asked to cancel". Some sellers try to use that to avoid the defect. If he did you can report him.

I think you will be able to leave feedback. I would just leave honest feedback....bought this item, seller cancelled and relisted at a higher price. No reason to get personal or anything.

If you see the orange Topps Collectors box, I'd grab one. Comes with a small binder, penny sleeves, top loaders, and a one touch case. Then a mix of baseball and basketball packs, one being an exclusive mixed pack. I pulled an Ohtani, a Flagg, a Roman Anthony, and an Anthony parallel out of the one pack.

I went to this game with my dad in 1993. Jay hit a triple in extras completing the cycle, but my dad had gone to the bathroom shortly before it happened. The Kingdome was built in a way that once you were on the concourse for the restroom or buying food/drink you were completely cut off from the field so he had no clue what had happened when he got back to our seats. He also missed Alex Rodriguez turning a triple play while in the bathroom at the Kingdome. We still joke about it today.
