What's an "olive smash burger"? Just instead of using onions, you used olives?
Had a thing for olive burgers since a fellow Michigander asked where you can get them in Chicago (the answer is that you can’t, not really since B&B burned down before the pandemic). We made olive smash burgs today with a side of morels to hold me over til we are back in MI at the end of the month. Wedding is not too far from Lansing so I am going to work my way into a meal at the Peanut Barrel.
Olive burgers are a Michigan thing that hasn’t spread far outside the upper midwest. Exact recipe varies by location, but most are chopped green olives with pimentos, softened cream cheese or mayo, a little olive brine, if there is cheese it is provolone or swiss. My favorite spot uses a green and black olive blend and a pumpernickel bun. What's an "olive smash burger"? Just instead of using onions, you used olives?

Until you make it to Gabriel's Gate in Buffalo. Then you'll really be ruined for wings. They might have ruined me for wings.
Top Notch's fried chicken is actually better than their burgers.A couple burgers from my Austin trip a couple weeks ago
Top Notch
Their standard cheeseburger. Charbroiled. Reminded me of a Whopper. Solid. Probably wouldn't go out of my way again as a visitor , but I'd definitely stop in occasionally if I was local. I debated getting the Jalapeno burger since they mention that in Dazed & Confused, but I was battling a touch of food poisoning, so decided not to push my luck.

Smashed patty, 'merican cheese, shrettuce, comeback sauce, French's yella mustard, dill pickles, diced onion.
7 bucks and fantastic. Thx for the rec, Nathan. That place also has the best wings I've ever had. They might have ruined me for wings.

You see Motz there?
