An Ode to the Glorious Sandwich

Got in a cubano in Fort Lauderdale at a cool little spot near Funky Buddha.

I can't remember if you live in FTL but Laspadas Italian Sub is the best sub I've ever had in my life and it makes me want to fly home to get one. I've found only 1 place locally here that makes the same style with the meat wrapped on top of the sandwich but even that is only 80% of the way there.

My grandma used to live within walking distance of one and I never appreciated them enough. Just look at this shit.

Picture is a bit of a potato but I am impressed with how this fridge cleanout wrap went together. The hummus is fresh homemade. Big, thin lavash style pita. Inside with the hummus is pickled turnips, coriander chutney, and leftover cochinita pibil. 10/10 wrap.

Little Fish Echo Park

"shrimp breakfast sausage, fried egg,
cilantro, arugula, bull-dog sauce,
kewpie mayo, café tropical coco bread"

This place makes some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Nori potatoes are like crack. It's not exactly "affordable" but it is worth the price.
Still haven't made it to Little Fish...definitely been on the hit list.

I also had a spendy fish sandwich. Trout bologna sandwich from Good Hot Fish in Asheville. Smoked trout that is then mixed up with spices and pressed into patty and grilled. Topped with a cheese skirt, onions, Dukes, yellow mustard on a Martins potato bun. Absolute banger.

Those look like waxman potatoes - looked up Nori potatoes and it looks like they can be cooked any style and just get nori added so I am willing to bet that’s the waxman cook. Sandwich looks great, too, but I love some crispy waxman potatoes.
