Random Music Thoughts / Opinions / Annoyances / Guilty Pleasures / Rants & Raves

I'm way late to the game here, but I just discovered Geese's 3D Country (2023) and now I'm one of those annoying people who ask everyone that gives a shit about music "Have you checked out Geese?"

Also, if the voice is too much, I get it. I personally find it refreshing for a young experimental indie rock band to have a strong vocalist who has a distinct voice and is skilled enough to know how to use it. The whole band does it for me though. Love the back up vocalists, all the noisy shit, the 70s vibes, and tightness they bring to their occasional wild changes and proggy shit.

I checked them out a couple months back when the Geese vs Goose debate broke out in here. Pretty sure I landed on the Geese side; thanks for reminding me I still need to listen further.

Me - '2025 sucked. I haven't been buying much at all'. Then checks outstanding pre-orders for reissues/new releases for the rest of the year.

Autechre - Quaristice
Autechre - Untitled
Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion: 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
Polygon Window - Surfing On Sine Waves: Expanded Edition
Say She She - Cut & Rewind (Colemine exclusive Rhodonite vinyl)
Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl: Baby, That's Show Business - Lakeside Beach Blue Sparkle
William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops: Arcadia Artist boxset
Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time x 3: 24 Hours Split with Splatter, Love In Stereo Iridescent Green, Translucent Green. This is ridiculous. I already own two OG pressings.
Sky Ferreira - Ghost
The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle (mono, signed blue edition)
Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want To Turn Into You: Everasking edition (although I can't find the e-mail receipt. Maybe I didn't put in the order after all).

Why? He’s always been pretty benign to me. Some decent tunes. Nothing amazing and nothing too terrible.

I'm not saying it's rational but I think his sense of himself as some kind of high artist is ridiculous considering he makes the most vapid brand of pop music out there. Guys in the quality lab listen to top 40 radio (actually the same 5 songs on repeat) and his wretched song with Playboi Carti comes on 15 times per shift.

His philanthropy and activism are incredible though.

His massive hits are all Max Martin productions. I wouldn't say 'vapid' but it's definitely all Swedish machine tooled pop bangers that follow Max's rigid 'melodic math' formula.

An excessively detailed analysis here.

Folks, I am proud to announce that this year I have gotten 5 lines on the Coachella poster.

I’d like to thank CMAT, Lambrini Girls, Slayyyter, Röyksopp, The Chats, Mind Enterprises and WhoMadeWho for making this happen.

Sadly Lambrini Girls are on opposite Ataris and I decided to just stay where I am at on that stage for Hanson. But they sound fun.
