Indian food makes me consider being a vegetarian

Heard about a really good Indian ice cream shop. Got something called Kulfi Falooda. Vermicelli topped with rose syrup, chopped up Indian ice cream (kulfi) and sweet basil seeds. Really different. The kulfi has kind of a gritty icy texture. The rose flavor is prominent…not something I’m used to. And the noodles really threw me.

South Indian Chinese spot around the corner from the venue I am seeing a show at tonight. They have kebab platters, dosa, biryani and a few other staples. This is a lamb kebab. I passed on Mediterranean lamb kifta at lunch (got lentils instead) to get this for dinner. Yes, that is mayo. Not sure where that fits in, but the food is quite spicy, which aligns with my favorite south Indian spot by my house. The mayo makes for a great naanwich and helps with the heat. Would eat here again even if I am the only loon dining in and drinking hot masala chai on a 96 degree day.

Finally got around to having a meal at Cheeni in Durham, did not disappoint. Entree was Sirloin Ambotik: "Beef sirloin tips, seared, served on a bed of coconut milk Tidewater Grains rice grits & ambotik-style sauce, served with sweet potato shards & beetroot achaar: a spicy, sweet, sour, and comforting spin on a traditional Goan dish"
