Talkin' 'bout Beerz

I have been threatened with a good time
And what a good time it is!

Current casks:

CASK

Dark Mild

A surprisingly light-bodied session ale with a rich roasted malt character.

Best Bitter

A well balanced, copper colored ale brewed with British Crystal malts and First Gold hops.

Golden Ale

-A refreshing Golden Ale, with a bright, crisp malt body and complex hop character.

Cambridge Bitter

Traditional Ordinary Bitter brewed with Golden Promise Malt from Norfolk, England and UK grown Progress hops. Well balanced, slightly hoppy and extremely drinkable.

Irish Extra Stout

Irish-style Extra Stout, inspired by the slightly stronger Stouts traditionally brewed in Ireland. Brewed with Maris Otter malt, flaked Barley and Roasted Barley for a rich, smooth stout that finishes with clean, crisp bitterness.

Extra Hoppy Bitter

Hoppy English-style Bitter, brewed in collaboration with Charles Faram Hops as part of Project Firkin. Hopped with UK-grown Harlequin and Olicana hops.

Porter

A classic Brown Porter with notes of chocolate malt and a clean finish. Pours a deep, dark reddish-brown, with lovely aromas of cocoa, caramel and dried fruits.

Pretty Hoppy Pale

Cask conditioned session Pale Ale, brewed with Golden Promise Malt and hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe.

Show me that cask hearted ale.
The cask scene in Kalamazoo, MI is deeply depressing.

The one? spot that had cask beers occasionally closed a few months back. I had Two Hearted on cask there a few times.

I probably had it more frequently at the Map Room than I ever had it in Kzoo. I don't know if Bell's Eccentric Cafe ever had a cask system, but they haven't in 10 years, if they ever did.

DotLA is on a hiatus (since 2020) but still on the CBS website as an event they occasionally host. This is the real tragedy. Give us back our cask fest. Chicago just won March Mildness (again).

So this particular pub, The Sportsman in Huddersfield (which is my favorite pub in England), will actually pour you any beer without the sparkler if you ask for it.
I knew I recognized that pub! Yeah, that is an excellent place. I used to love The Grove as well, but I haven't been for a very long time. I know it changed hands a while ago.

I should have put two and two together with the Magic Rock pump clip in the background. Crazy that both them and Summer Wine are now out of business. Says a lot about the state of the beer industry.
