Show me the Honey (wine)! The official Mead, Honey Wine, Biere de Miel and Honey Spirits thread.

If you're into the rich/sweet/popular meads then I suggest checking out Misbeehavin's latest stuff. While Clint has always been a great mead maker, he always went drier and used odd flavors that didn't hit with the vast population. But recently he's been doing a bunch of fruit+popular adjunct stuff that's no-water (only using the juice from fruit). Thus making his meads sweeter, bolder, richer, and with combinations like raspberry/coconut, etc. they should be big hits. Stuff like Jammy AF and the recent Same Old Jam series.
But I appreciate the fact that he still leaves room for acidity and tannins too. Making it balanced.

Jammy AF is really good.

I really liked the black Raspberry he had over Labor Day, but by and large I prefer the drier weird stuff. That tomato basil one last year was top notch.

You and I both. We have similar tastes.

i get that he needs to be competitive in the market by putting out some of the dessert stuff too.

Good news is Clint promised me he'll keep making the direr stuff. And his ciders are doing really well so those will continue, which I've always been a fan of.

Blueberry Mead
(How to win friends and influence people)

A perfect table wine, this crowd-pleaser is made from wildflower honey and whole American-grown blueberries. Semi-dry; very smooth. Red fruits and soft tannins on the palate with a gently tart, clean finish. A versatile accompaniment for steak and game meats, sharp cheese, and desserts! Buy online >>
Black Currant Mead
(Fortune favors the bold!)

This lively vino is made from wildflower honey and whole black currants from Poland. Vivid on the nose, rich dark cherry/blackberry on the palate. A delightfully bracing acidity gives way to a mineral close over a LONG finish. Plays very well with bleu and washed-rind cheese, red meat, dark chocolate. Buy online

As far as I know the license is in process, but it just takes some time for out of state producers. I’ll see if I can get a better answer from the folks in charge of the paperwork.

Please document the entire trip from the moment you leave your home to the time you return on all social media and remember to tag MJ along the way.

But have fun.
One day I'll have to make the trip out.
For sure! I'll likely post it on instagram as I dont have a facebook anymore. Lanesvfire on insta.

On a more wishful note, I wish I was in their kings and queens club. They held a lottery for it earlier this year but alas I didn't win. Last I heard, Matt is doing away with the bottle lotteries and focusing on the tastings and trying to get a larger tasting room set up in Libertyville. Otherwise the only ways to get bottles are to be in the club or pay ridiculous secondary prices.

Hey all! I am looking for someone to do some trading with that is local to schramms! I'm in illinois and unfortunately they dont ship here.

Article is short on details, but I am very proud of our first full dry offering (Blueberry). I got to try it for the first time last weekend and it drinks much more like a traditional white or Rosè than what has been typically popular in mead. I am looking forward to trying it again without a head cold in a week or two. Maybe Thanksgiving.

Is this where homebrew mead discussion goes?

Or should I start a new thread?

Or should I just fuck off back to the Lutter thread amirite?

This is only a three page thread glad you read before asking. It’s already been covered. So No, we have an all things homebrewing thread, no, we have an all things homebrewing thread, and to your third question, that’s up to you.

Oh jeeebus. I just realized you started the all things homebrewing thread so you knew the answer to your question before you asked it.

That's it...shut it down. Peak Lutter has been reached.
