Saison Thread

We will need one as we move forward, so lets start with one of the Ace breweries doing Saisons and a fucking great example of the style.

Haven’t tracked down the anniversary yet this year. My favorite beer from my favorite saison brewery.

Curious if it'll get out to Denver, we've been getting some drops every once in a while and it's been delightful.

Fairy hoppy nose full of orange rind, Zinfandel, musty oak, pineapple, and cherry. Bright citrus/tropical acidity hits your tongue quickly and dissipates to a pithy orange rind. Really makes you want to go back for the next sip right away. Wonderful.

Really wish I grabbed a case of these, but I had already abused my credit card enough when I was up in Richmond.

Cracked this with the wife on a warm porch evening. Floodland deserves all the hype. This was reminiscent of Hearts Beat from upright.

Gamay grapes throughout, great sipper and potent abv. Not sure how close they are pushing towards wine but loved this.

Adam makes wine just for fun (he gave me a bottle of his attempt at Rose a while back, need to open that still), so I'm sure he had that in mind.

Unsurprisingly this is divine. Perfect mineral and citrus balance. Absolutely crushable and just in time for summer’s wrath. God bless these guys.

I was happy when this lot started doing Saisons. They do they well. Long may they continue.




That said. This beer costs about $10 more than the Upright one JonathanAmes posted.

I would drink the Upright 1000 times
Over given the price differential.

Side Project is brilliant at the blended saison. This is a great example, this was sweet but not overly with a hidden funk. Would love to try other blended saisons.

For you Chicagoans, had the Paloma Saison at Cruz Blanca last week. Very well done, but you gotta like grapefruit.

One more if you're in the neighborhood. Around the corner at Ballast Point, the White Wine BA Saison. Dry, lots of oak, better than expected.

I dont have a picture but it needs to be mentioned that Voodoo is officially in the saison game now and what I got to try by them yesterday absolutely knocked my tits off.

Its called building 3: two. (Building 3 being the fermentation building that houses all their wild ales moving forward and two in that its the second beer they have released from said building.)

It is 5ish percent and was fermented/aged for a year in a foeder. Delightfully tart from their house culture.
