New Music of 2024

That's quite good. I've long dismissed her as a pointless society it girl without actually listening to anything she's ever released. Guess I'm a massive misogynist.

Not gonna lie, I probably would've assumed the same had I been aware of her before I heard this song

Jesus, Swamp Dogg is still making music? I remember finding my dad's cassette copy of 1970s "Total Destruction of Your Mind" and played the hell out of it like 20 years ago.
Apparently. Going to dig into this whole album. There’s also a track with Vernon Reid I bet is kick ass.

Update: I highly recommend the whole album. Enjoyed the Vernon Reid track as expected but the final track, Murder Ballad, may be my favorite after the Margo Price track. So good.

These guys can write a catchy tune. They made one of my favorite songs from last year ("Marriage") and this one will likely be at the top of the list come December. They're also on Sub Pop now, so hopefully they'll make it over to the states sometime this year.

The Bug Club is so much fun. Kinda reminds me of what would happen if you threw Los Campesinos!, Belle and Sebastian and Math & Physics Club into a blender.

This sounds similar to something the King Kahn would write. I am therefore going down a bug club hole.

LOL. I love the Internet.

Anyway I went to buy this at my local Barnes & Noble yesterday but they had sold out of the three copies they got in for release day. So they ordered another one for me.

Clearly I’m going to be eating my own words when I predicted this would flop.

I wasn't too sure how much I would like this as Charlie XCX has been hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed this album.

More Sub Pop stuff. I'd never heard of Suki Waterhouse until I heard this song on KEXP a few weeks ago, but I guess she's pretty popular? I dunno. But I do know this song is really good. Groovy ramshackle-y folk rock.

Suki dropped another single yesterday. Another great one. This one's more dream pop and I love it

Jamie XX - In Waves (Sept 20th)

Took a few listens but digging the collab single with Robyn. Early 2000’s big room house vibe. Samples Cerrone’s cover of House of the Rising Sun.

Party Dozen - Crime In Australia (Sept 6th)

One of you lot turned me on to these guys and now here I am pre-ordering whatever it is you call this stuff.

See, this is what I love about these threads. I've posted about this band a few times, so it was likely one of those posts that turned you onto them, and now it comes full circle with you making me aware of an upcoming album of theirs that I might have otherwise missed.
