Not mad about this at all. No MCR. I guessed correct about Afroman. And yes to ICP.

I’d love to see Angine de Poitrine. Boston tix sold out way faster than I imagined, now looking for Friday only Newport Jazz Fest tix at a reasonable price, but less than thrilled that would be the weekend after Folk Fest. If I didn’t already have plans to be in Maine the weekend of Riot Fest, I think that would have had to happen.

Their tix are fucking impossible to get. The Portland show this summer sold out in seconds. Then the two shows in December sold out in the pre-pre-sale, whatever the fuck that is. I tried to get them in the regular pre-sale last Thursday & there were apparently no tix to be had. Same on Friday for the general on sale.

I know it's not the band's fault but after that experience, I don't even really want to see them anymore

Yeah. Boston was gone in seconds too. I think the only way that I will actually see them is a fest

Brandi Carlile’s Echoes in the Canyon night 1 with openers I’m With Her and Indigo Girls. What a beautiful space. Also the lawn at the Gorge is unbelievably steep and it’s actually a full body workout to not slide off a waterproof blanket even in jeans. It got even more difficult once the sun went town and the grass got dewy as I lost my traction and my shoes started to slip. I really enjoyed all of the collaboration. The crowd was dead silent as Brandi joined I’m With Her for Wild, Clear and Blue, and Indigo Girls joined them for Overland (my favorite tune of theirs). The artists joined each other on songs throughout the night and there was also a surprise appearance by Highwaywoman Marren Morris. The whole weekend lineup looks great but I don’t think my body is currently prepared for trying to stay on a blanket for three nights. I would come back again. Two and a half hours back to Seattle.

Apocalyptica.

I bought the ticket when randomly browsing the web at some point. I did not realize until the show that:

1. They were playing Plays Metallica by Four Cellos in its entirety on this tour
2. Because the album is 30 years old
3. And I bought it when it came out

Fuck. Me. I feel old. And I don't look half as good as they do.

Chris Thile with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra - ATTENTION!
What an odd little story. Apparently Chris Thile’s pandemic project in the wake of Live from Here getting cancelled was to improve upon his previous attempt at composting a piece for orchestra.

Very fun and it is clear why Chris and Gabriel Kahane are friends, as it takes what is otherwise a brief anecdote about an industry party from the early Nickel Creek days and turns it into a 50 minute musical odyssey, poking fun at himself the whole way.

The show ended with an encore of an orchestration of Julep, and then two members of the bass section (one of which was apparently Paul Kowert’s college roommate) joined Chris for a bluegrass standard.

Genuinely a unique evening.
