Tomatoes are getting ready to ripen.

Mystery volunteer squash coming in. Initial thoughts are Delicata.

Many peps coming in too. Zukes and beans too. My wife does a vast majority of the capital G Gardening and the electric fence has done wonders with pests so far.

Raspberries are slowing, we are attempting to pick the blackberries again this year. Berries are my responsibility. Picking blackberries is just a brutal experience when you don't have thornless varieties.

Went on some wine tasting for a couple of days and come back to a solid garden haul. My wife said she has to break out the backpack style basket going forward for harvesting.

These zucchini are LARG and in CHARG

Found another different type of squash in the volunteer squashes. No idea what this one is.

Are all those eggs in the wire basket? And everything lays the same color??

Yes, those are all duck eggs. With a few exceptions, all eggs are generally the same color. Some are slightly gray.

The exception is our Cayuga will lay a black egg and some dark gray ones right after a long molt... Also the first egg they ever lay. That's goth as fuck, so her name is Hellhammer. See below for some examples from Hellhammer.

Anyone else’s hop cones hyuge already from this weather?
This is a C(ascade/entennial?). Harvest is weeks away and we usually have large cones but even this is a bit much.
Weird, mine are just starting to flower. Cones are probably 2-4 weeks away for me. Although my hops are all noble English varieties so maybe they bloom later.

I did start to get absolutely massive blackberries.

Ours are… one American, we think Cascade but might be Centennial. The other is like Hallertau or East Kent Golding. Something English or German basic bittering hop. The American hops always get fairly large but they are massive this year and it’s still early.

What do you guys do with your hops? Or are they purely ornamental

Ours are ornamental.

Both varieties grow together though we could separate them by aroma if we wanted to harvest them for brewing. You can easily smell the difference. We just have been working on getting our cellar to a manageable level so we haven’t harvested in two or three years.

What are folks' tips for dealing with Japanese Beetles? It's not a severe plague, but enough to keep our flowers looking shabby shortly after they bloom.

I would try the Irish Spring hack. Bugs don’t like the smell and it’s cheap. Hang a bar in a bra washing bag or dish dunker near where they congregate, put out a dish or two of shavings. They bite so I would be most concerned about that.
