Do you not go to the convenience store and look behind the cashier....

They are called Bodegas, and they are so full of other exciting things to look at like bagels and beef patties.

Also I don't think any of the bodegas near me sell cigarettes. I know the newsstands on the street in midtown do but I don't ever buy anything from them. Grocery stores and drug stores don't sell them.

Honestly if you came to town and asked me where to buy cigarettes I think I'd send you to Manhattan where the newsstands on the street are. I can't think of where else they sell them.

Not all that many people smoke.

I think I remember seeing a vape shop on Long Island.

Also, west coast peeps remember how we had Smokepocalypse AND Covid at the same time? That was fun.
I still have a Levoit air purifier next to me that I bought summer 2020 specifically for both purposes. (Too much smoke was making its way into the house and I also figured it might help me if my housemate caught covid.) That was after I had to make do for a week or so with a makeshift box fan + MERV filter because all the portable air purifiers in California had been bought out.

We have air purifiers on each floor of our house since yearly wildfire smoke is just a reality here now. Costco has a great selection online.

It's wild, 15-20 years ago almost everyone I knew smoked, you could still smoke in bars, people smoked outside all over the place. Now it's so rare that I can smell it when the guy two houses down lights up. I smell weed way more often than I do cigs.

Vividly. My BIL and SIL visited for the first time since we moved west and since it was COVID times we planned a week long camping trip around Oregon. On Day 2 we watched the Lionshead fire explode in size from Crater Lake and raced home to Portland as all the highways were closing around us. My SIL was having a breakdown because ash was spewing in through the car air vents and the sky looked like Satan was about to pop out of it as we were doing 90 on 5 northbound. Then we spent the rest of the week locked inside our house trying to kill time while box fan filters were running and my asthmatic BIL couldn't really breathe. For some reason they haven't wanted to visit again since 🤔
