The "I Hate Beer" Thread

The more I read this thread the more I hate beer.

That Chocolate Reign hitting 21% has to be crossing some kind of line into spirits category, no? At some point it just becomes liqueur, right? Or is that based solely on distillation?

If your beer/wine is above 19% ABV in TX you have to sell it in a liquor store.... but it's still considered beer/wine.

21% sounds high but we've had a number of beers close/above that here in TX. Rumpkin from Avery was 19%+ ABV a few years back and those dumbass Brewdog high ABV beers are probably still languishing in the backrooms of a liquor store somewhere. Those were like 30%+ ABV.

BT was over 20% recently, and being aged for 2 years I'm surprised it wasn't closer to 22%. It's always been 19ish give or take a little.

BT reserve is always over 20%, grand reserve was close to 22% iirc.

This has been going on for like a decade ;).

Oh really? I always thought they were in the 18 range, I don't remember seeing it pass 20 but I never paid close attention. Only "beer" I've had that was stronger than that was Utopias but they seemed to market that as a liqueur for the most part.

after taking one of the face the other year i came to the realization that a bottle of BT was basically half the alcohol as a bottle of 80 proof bourbon, at over twice the calorie load.

pleasant thought
