US - West Denver

First year I paid the $80 and my car clunked out literally two months later. I scraped it off my windshield and taped to my new car. Every year since, I’ve gotten the $120. We can bounce it between our three cars and (more importantly) use it on friends rental cars when they come into town and we force them to drive.

It’s well worth it. In the metro you have Golden Gate, Eldorado Canyon, Cherry Creek, and Chatfield. Just a bit of a drive up 285 is Staunton and that is one hell of fun park to hike.
by Chatfield, you also have Roxbourough State park which has some really nice hikes.

Also, Water Canyon is between Chatfield and Roxborough. Its the start of the Colorado Trail, easy hike for the first 6 miles or so then it gets steep and woodsy.

Yeah, Waterton Canyon is great. 100% chance of seeing Big Horn sheep up close right on the trail.

Good place to run too.

Did Luki Brewery on Friday. It's a fine little brewery. Not something you'd go out of your way for but since it's around the corner, the beer prices were reasonable, and the beer was fine, we'll go back again.

Black Project may not allow kids. I’d check before you go though I’m probably getting it confused with someplace else.
Good to know. Their website doesn't say anything, but it's always a possibility. The one place I've found so far is Bierstadt's Beerhall doesn't allow kids but their taproom does.

edit: i can't find anything about being 21+ but I'll call just to be safe.

Black Project was interesting. The taproom is very uninteresting but it's a big wide open space so that was nice. No outdoor seating and parking in the area was busy. The beer was pretty good though the sours they had on draft were a bit similar to each other in some ways. For whatever reason, they offer 12oz and 4oz pours, but the 4oz pours were in the 12oz glasses. Made for funny looking pours. Plenty of food options in the area which was nice. All in all we'll probably go back there again at some point but have plenty of places to visit before then.

This Friday we are going to go for a hike up in Nederland and then try out Knotted Root. On Saturday we are going to Paco Sanchez Park and then maybe a brewery after, not sure yet.

Out of curiosity, what is the mask situation like in the Denver/Boulder area? We'll be in town next week and just wanted to know with the cases spiking etc. My wife and I are both fully vaccinated but I guess to be safe we'll bring our vaccination card? We've pretty much stopped wearing masks locally as our county has been "yellow" but just looking for the social norms if nothing else.

Haven't seen a ton of masking around here in Arvada between Denver and Boulder though our vaccination rates are highish. Haven't been up to Boulder or really into Denver to know the situation there.

I was in Boulder last week and downtown over the weekend. About 10-20% masks, mostly at grocery stores. Pretty non-existent at restaurants and breweries.

Denver and Colorado both declined to reinstate mask mandates yesterday and I haven’t seen an aggressive push by places to require them.

In fact, I think you’d be more likely to see places require proof of vaccination so bringing your card is probably a pretty good idea.

A lot of places seem to have outdoor seating at least and the weather here is generally beautiful for the month that I've been here in Colorado.

Honestly, it's not as bad as other places. Since it's generally quite dry, it means it is hot but not sweaty. That and shade actually does stuff. I know it's cliche to say it's a dry heat, but it really does make a difference. The sun is still really hot though.
Hehe, I was being overly dramatic. We live on the coast where it's between 55-70 degrees 330 days of the year. My wife melts when she gets in weather above 80 degrees anymore. We're going rafting a couple days when out there so the weather should still be great for that.

Drove up to Nederland on Friday. Walked next to the reservoir for a little over an hour then went to Knotted Root. IPAs were pretty good but the one smoothie beer I tried was gross. People were ordering it so some people like them but not I. Their saison was good too actually. Then a wind and rain storm came through so we fled.
