All things Grateful

Just transitioned into 7/2/89 on YouTube.

Ok. I’m down.
I watched that earlier this week while I was working. Knowing nothing, I enjoyed for sure. I though both sets opened strong and I liked that version of he’s gone.

I will say I’ve listened to 6 or 7 late 80s shows, and the drums/space stuff doesn’t do it for me. I love percussion and really long building songs and still can’t get behind it... maybe one day.

But I’m definitely behind weir’s shorts and muscle tees during those shows

Just beware some of those early Dead album pressings are fucking awful. Specifically Wake of the Flood. Also some shitty workingmans dead pressings out there.
Yeah but that’s not unique to GD records. Lots of shitty pressings from almost every album ever, put out over a lengthy period of time. But I feel ya.

Sooo...I experimented with the Dead as running music today.

I don’t need music to keep my pace or to pump me up, I need it to take up time, so I think Dead shows are going to be perfect for that.

Today I took 8-27-72 Set I to the dome. Deal was playing at the point where I turn back to make it a 4 mile run...it was sounding so good and the weather was so perfect, I turned left instead of right and made it 5 miles instead :)

Tunning to a Grateful Dead show is the best.

Those running shorts better be shorts and those socks better be longs. Bluesman Bobby years all the better for his on stage appearance at the time.

Links for red, white, and blue stealie sweatband sets? Seems like the bands signature piece of merchandise, but I’m not finding them.

Picking a show to listen to for my run today was easy - 29 years ago today (yikes) I was there. One of the best shows I saw, definitely one of the best first sets, I was so psyched to get Might as Well, which had been brought back on spring tour after a break - I guess this is the third-to-last one.
